And that player (Pat Lafontaine) was 32 when the Rangers traded for him.

Which had nothing at all to do with why he had to retire. He was still one of the best players in the league, and was playing at a ppg pace with the Rangers. We bought a broken player and nobody was shocked when he broke again.

Zibanejad is good at being a shorthanded threat though...maybe I wouldn't have him as a top penalty killer but put him on near the end of a penalty kill if possible

Kills penalties?

He did a little bit, for just one season.

Something I'd like to see tried again.

And Levitate- if we are really worried about ZIbby's durability, we shouldn't be playing him 23 minutes a game, in my opinion.

My slightly bigger worry is his always seems to get banged up a bit and at inopportune times, but that's not really something you can count on or predict.

I also don't really want to read a ton into anything that went on last year with the weird season and everything. Kreider will decline, all players do, but I think he'll be a valuable middle six player for a fair bit longer
As long as he’s stays a force on the PP in front of the net, even with his steakyness, he’ll be among the league leaders in PP goals. Despite scoring 20 goals last year, he wasn’t really a large factor in most games. Hopefully Gallant can get some more out of him so he can go full tilt for a least a couple minutes a game. We all know from watching Kreids for so long he’s mainly feast or famine.
Last season, like most of the team, he looked flat and disinterested a lot. I’m hoping the coaching change helps.
Trouba isn’t even close to a negative asset. He’s overpaid by 1.5 mill or so, but he’s still a good top 4 D that eats a lot of minutes. I don’t get where all this is coming from now, it’s been brought up already

If he's going to be our 1C and demand what he's reportedly going to demand, he'd gonna have to handle the minutes .

If it's a concern, don't commit to him.

Unless her medical specialty is surgery, she will very likely be finished with her residency in the next year or two. At that point, she will be on the market for a medical job. There are short term options (a friend of mine just finished up a two year gig that got her a credential to teach in a teaching hospital), of course, if they want to stay in NYC through the end of Trouba's contract. They also both love Florida, and own a house in Ft. Lauderdale (not far from where the Panthers play...).
That could absolutely be an option to trade him there down the line. Especially if Ekbald takes a bad hit to the head or something happens with his health

I mean, any forward is going to wear down if they're playing top even strength minutes, power play, AND penalty kill. That's a lot and really putting your player to the grind

Are we positive Trouba is the next captain or is that just speculation from posters here? I’m sure I was wrong about other things but I was super-wrong about last year’s team not needing to name a captain

And it reduces his ES minutes.
If we take a look at the top TOI per game centers last season...

NHL Stats

75% or so of them didn't play significant minutes killing penalties. Those that did are noted for their great 2 way play like Kopitar, Barkov, Couturier.

Zibby isn't a selke candidate like those guys. And he plays only 2nd line level ES minutes right now. He and Strome too.

William what are you driving at

Zbad is watching closely -- knowing who your co-workers are ahead of time is very important to success at work -- and he knows that HFNYR is the definitive authority on player medical situations.

I prefer WebMD, but I guess there's more than one way to wear a hat.
