Edit: in the article, 67s actually confirm he won't be at the camp due to injury (as was reported, he got the puck off the face at practice and will be week-to-week according to his coach, Dave Cameron):

"In the most recent NHL Draft, Rohrer was the only member of the 67’s selected, going 75th overall to the Montreal Canadiens. Rohrer had a breakout season in 2021-22, scoring 25 goals, and 48 points in 64 games, both team-highs. The Feldkirch, Austria native, unfortunately, won’t be participating with the Habs, due to injury."

From watching these tournaments in the past I thought id warn you guys that the Physicality can be a bit low, Slightly less then a preseason game I think. Be prepared for small speedsters to look amazing and the more physical sort to look average.

There is usually one person each tournament however that feels like they have to prove something and makes a dangerous hit though. Hopefully it won't happen this year.

I doubt it will be a Montreal player who does it though
. I doubt the Habs higher ups want to "cause trouble" during the first year they are invited to the tournament.

:thumbu:

This sounds like a description of Xhekaj 😬 like you said let’s hope he stays focused (and it will certainly be the guideline from Habs management) but from time to time he makes dumb/dangerous hits

Anyone know if Mailloux will be playing in any Rookie Tournament games?

I would guess no, and that he's just skating with the team in a non-contact jersey in practices.

No he won't. In the Rookie Camp roster, he's listed as injured.

He'll be there and will practice. He just won't play any games. At Development Camp, he was doing work solo. It's possible he's now at least good to practice with the team.

Im expecting our kids to destroy that competiton, Quinn, Peterka and Power not playing for baby Sabres, so baby Habs should steamroll that little tournament with ease.

The Sabres are without a staggering number of prospects picked high in recent drafts.

They have 11 guys drafted (or traded for) in the first three rounds since 2019 that are either being held out for the real camp, are in college or are overseas. And that’s not even counting Devon Levi who is their best goalie prospect but is in school.

Comparitively they have 5 that will be in the tournament. 5 out of 16 picks between rounds 1 and 3.

If you go back to 2018 there’d be two more since Dahlin is long graduated and Samuelsson got hurt in this thing last time they did it and missed half the year. Which is why no one with a shot of making the NHL is playing in it this year.

Rookie camp starts today. It will surely be the medicals. Maybe they will get on the ice for some practice. Tomorrow night is their first game against the Sabres.

Be good camp gets going. We get some reports. Habs added a lot this off season. First time in 42 years the top pick in draft. Traded for former third overall pick. Reclamation project in Monahan. Guhle be good to see what we have. Can Gallagher bounce back.

That's the main camp. Which is set to start next week (Monday or Tuesday).
