The offense coming out from out of our D has been drying up. Whether it's Pionk, DeAngelo or Shattenkirk--other teams are taking away their space--getting in on them harder on the forecheck and not giving them time to play with the puck and none of them are putting up points. The Rangers offense this year has depended a lot on contributions from their defensemen. I think the league has adjusted to what the Rangers were doing successfully a couple weeks ago and now it's time for the Rangers to start adjusting to the league. It's made more difficult though when we're missing Zuccarello, Buchnevich and Namestnikov and even McLeod. But that's two top 6 forwards--a pretty decent 3rd liner and our most physical forward. And it's not that Gettinger, Fogarty and Lettieri are awful it's just they're not really ready for the NHL. So the team's issues are showing.

Have you looked at our starting lineup last night? Vesey and Fast were on the first line, we have guys like Gettinger, Fogarty and Letterri on the roster. It was a dogs lunch, the offense left when Buchnevich,Zuc and Namestnicov got hurt. The only guys an opposing team would logically target are Zibanajad,Kreider and Hayes up front and the last two went into hiding. It leaves less options on the table so ofcourse they would attack the d more. Fill in the roster and we are an 'ok' team again.

His contract is just another example of this team being stupid when it comes to paying players. Skjei was horrible last year too and they could have given him a bridge deal.

Edited to add: The contract does seem to be weighing on him. His head can't deal with it so far. Too much too soon and all.

Skjei is a better player than this. He has to get his head back in the game and i think he will. Hopefully we dont give up on him too early.

Freddy Claussen deserves the #1d spot, hes our best dman right now, steady, quick passes and gets the puck out.

Why the **** does everyone want Panarin?

A 27 year old Left Winger given his top end has been reachrd and the current state of the team? Holy **** pass!

I'm not sure if this is serious, but I agree with it. Hard to see this team competing with or without Panarin and by the time we will be ready, he'll be in his 30's and likely declining and overpaid.

I also really wish we could hire a coach who didn't put such an enormous premium on attitude/resolve/whatever you want to call it. AV overplaying Girardi. Now Quinn so clearly obsessed with Pionk and Staal. It's just so frustrating.

Why in the world is ADA sitting? Pionk is just not that good and Staal is downright awful and has absolutely no future on this team. I'm praying Gorton finds a way to get rid of him.

I really think ADA and possibly Skjei because of this idiotic contract he has, are the only 2 D-men that have any future on this team.

The pipeline does look nice right now, but we better hope that some of these prospects are going to become legitimate top 4 guys, because if not this rebuild is going to be much longer than we think.

I'm not so confident he is. He had a really good first year in a relatively sheltered role. Last year he was garbage and he picked that right back up this year. The Rangers should have bridged him.

I'm beginning to believe this is who he is. Moreover, he is not super young anymore. He will be 25 this season. Of course, he can improve, but I don't see him becoming markedly better than this.

ADA picked a fight on a 2 on 1, a ridiculously bonehead and selfish move that put himself before the team that's why he sat. His play that game wasnt very good either but that idiotic move got him benched. Players make mistakes, but when you go out of your way to do something stupid you deserve a benching. Hopefully he learns a lesson this time though I'm not confident he will as this has been his calling card since his days in Sarnia.

I hope not, it basically sets the rebuild back a year.

It was a serious no to Panarin from me, and I’m not sure why people wanted him so much.

On another note, it's funny how I suddenly love all these 3 point games. Bane of my existence when the post season was realistic. Now it feels like finding cash in the laundry.
So funny you say that. When watching www.dtmts.com the day after, and it comes to the end of a game, I'm hoping for the tie in regulation, because every point added by other teams, is a good thing for the Rangers.....at this point.

I don't think it does at all. I'm pretty sure he's just not that good. Probably great 3rd pairing guy and average second pairing. Thankfully he gets paid second pairing money. Still, the team should look to move him.

I think the rebuild will only face a severe setback if 1 of Miller, Rykov, Lindgren, Hajek, etc., etc., don't become a top pairing guy with at least another becoming a legit second pairing guy.

Because it screws whatever cohesiveness each of the forward lines had going. And there's not enough depth or talent to counter it. That being said I haven't liked the effort of the last few games.
Someone here made a really good comment on how it seemed like the Namestnikov injury really swayed the pendulum and was the breaking point in their offense.

Obviously this team doesnt have the needed depth. The possibility of playing Smith on a wing, and Strome playing on the 1st line, should be all the proof we need.

Id like to see Beleskey up.....i mean where the hell is he? Injured still? And where is McQuaid? We need some beef in the lineup, as i just dont want our remaining players get the eff beat up and manhandled.
