Prospect Info: Roman Kantserov 44th Overall

His scouting report

He just isnt blazing fast. Thats a fact. Unless there are clips out there that show otherwise, he's one of those guys whos fast enough to take advantage of rush scoring chances and push the pace but he wont be turnstiling guys

You do realise he is as prospect still and can get stronger and faster. You are not finished product at his age. Point wasnt the speedster he is now when he was drafted. Maybe hold on for making definitive statements at this point!

There are clips.

I’m just saying that Kantserov isnt known his blazing speed. It’s not an inherent negative? Kucherov isn’t either, Kane wasn’t, etc. I’m as high on this kid as any prospect we have and he’s simply not a speedy North-south player in the mold of Hagel.

Funny that no one can pull up clips of his patented “ blazing speed”. They don’t exist. The clips that exist showcase great edge work and agility. And yes Brayden Point was faster as a prospect.

There are a ton of clips of him spread around HF. HF Mod Caser has posted a ton of them on Kantserov's prospect thread in the draft/prospects board.

Most of those clips come from Twitter, and I'm mostly staying away from that cesspool these days, so I'm not willing or interested in copy/pasting those tweets myself here just for your benefit. But again, they're pretty widely available on the site you're currently using.

Going off some of his clips, I see a very good North/South skater. I do not see a kid who is slowing the pace of play down and making high end passing like you'd see from Kane/Kucherov/etc.

He looks quick. He's got a good shot and he just kind oozes offensive confidence. ....I don't see the Hagel comps.....Hagel is bloodhound, more physical, opportunistic and due to his overall effort and drive, over-achieves----and he deserves a big tip of the hat for that.

Have you watched many of his games? I'm the one who introduced the Hagel comps and I did so because I've watched him play essentially every game this season and many last season and his play anticipation and quickness/speed make his a bloodhound like disrupter all over this ice. Hagel is bigger and older so it's not a true apples to apples comparison - just my impression watching him play complete games every game all game long.

And yes - he has very good speed. Watch him play a complete game or two and give me your comp.

Just finished watching Kantserov and Magnitka beat Traktor 5-3. Kantserov with a nice snipe goal from the mid-slot along with several other good plays and chances ending up with an empty net goal that was disallowed because of an incorrect offsides call.

Good news for the team with Silantyev returning from injury and playing on Yurov's wing and scored a goal - the coach keeping Mikhailis on the line with Kantserov and Zernov rather than re-uniting Silantyev with them. Magnitka is finally at full strength for the first time all season.

So by the Hagel comp you're saying he's more a straight ahead get it and go type of player?

It's hard to tell just from highlights.

He definitely has a get it and go ability but his play reminds me of Hegel because, like Hegel, his puck hunting and play anticipation is very good and because he has great quickness he gets his stick on pucks that most other players don't. In other words his "off puck" game is similar to Hegel more so than when he or a teammate has possession of the puck. He has a very good offensive game - skating, vision, playmaking - but I think what sets him apart from other good offensive players is the impact he has on the game when his team doesn't have the puck.

He's a communist too? Perfect.

I have never seen anyone spell his name Hegel and it’s making my eyes twitch.
