Was at Rogers for the first time tonight. My father and I have shared season seats for the past 11 seasons with some other people, but tonight was the first time I was able to sit in our seats at the new arena.
We're in section 115, row 6, so a corner seat at the end where the Oilers attack twice.
First the pros: Super comfortable, and way more leg room than at Rexall. When the puck is in the close end the action is remarkable. I've never really watched much hockey up close like that. It's pretty cool seeing the players up close.
Now on to the cons, and it's a major one. And really I'm pretty disappointed with it. Because of the angle of the glass, 1/2 of the far end is completely unviewable. I'm not sure if it's glare, distortion from the angle, both or what, but it's literally impossible to see what is happening down at the other end of the ice and all the way up the close side until the closest blue line.

Not sure if my rudimentary paint skills are viewable, but if so, everything above the gray line is either distorted or completely unviewable.

There are a couple pictures I took that hopefully illustrate the issue.
I didn't expect I'd be able to see the action in the far corner just because the angle is pretty tight, and I was okay with that. But this is probably 30% of the ice that is basically unwatchable because of the distortion that the glass causes. What ended up happening is you'd have to be craning your head up to the jumbotron (which is super impressive) any time the puck was at the far end and then quickly looking back to the ice when the puck moved its way back down the ice. I mean I couldn't even see the far net clearly.
Now I've never sat in this kind of seating before (the seats at Rexall were upper bowl) and maybe this is just how trying to watch on an angle through the glass works. But wow was I let down haha. Half the game is unwatchable.
