The refs were bad but the Amerks were losing puck battles constantly tonight, just couldn't handle the relentless forecheck and generate any sort of good chances. Once the Bears got the lead they locked it down and we didn't have any answer.

Feels like the trio of Kulich chances and the Rosen feed to Kozak that all went for naught spelled the end. Hershey with the lead is stifling.

As a player, I was far more throwback than current professional mores allow. I can understand this.
It's just, the reason the refs blow the whistlenin those situations isn't because it's unfair, it's because it's unsafe. If they aren't blowing it dead, I'm spearing the f*** outta that guy.

Amerks had chances early on and if they had cashed in the tenor of the game would have been much different.

But they didn't. So now it's a 3-game series and the Amerks have home advantage. Looking forward to Saturday night. Should be a loud crowd.

Go Amerks!! :thumbu:

5-game series, this round (and the next) are best-of-7.

A few observations from 4 rows behind the net.....

-Savoie looked really smooth. You can tell he's the most talented player on the ice, but he got smothered for most of the night. In terms of foot speed, the game was not too fast for him. In terms of acclimated speed, he was understandably behind.

-Kulich was far and away the best and most dangerous player for either team last night. Aside from the obvious chances early, he just seems to buzz around the play. He was absolutely frustrated with the linesmen as he was bounced from three consecutive face-offs but was otherwise a bull in the offensive zone.

-Rosen I thought was very quiet. Tough, tight-checking game that just didn't see his best traits come out. He was slippery with the puck, and the talent is obvious but it just wasn't his night.

-That second goal was as soft as Charmin. I actually thought it hit the outside of the net and couldn't believe it found it's way through. Other than that, I thought Subban was solid and in-control.

All in all a fine first period effort, a flat second period, and a humdrum third. You want a winning streak broken? Just send me to the game!

Only thing I'll add, is Rosen was quite noticeable, in the defensive end. Had several key plays to stop chances.

Jobst's spin at the nutrition vid -
