Might be the best shift for Helenius since before he went to the U20s just now. Threw a couple of big hits, fed chances in the slot twice and then defended the Laval odd man rush the other way.

He's being productive and getting 1C icetime. Helenius returned from the U20's and has not looked like himself and is now playing RW3. Granted, Helenius is the youngest player in the AHL and at the same age, Ostlund was in HockeyAllsvenskan with only 26 points in 38 games. There is still time. Neither is a finished product.
Kulich is a great example of being patient with prospects, especially those that get moved to the AHL quickly.

I know plenty of people want to speed things up, but I would not be thrilled with moving Helenius or Ostlund right now unless it is getting an All Star level NHL talent that has some team control.

I find the idea that Helenius is the "near ready" player and not Kozak or Rosen that the Penguins are looking at out of Rochester is funny and odd. He's not nearly ready. The other two? Sure. Hell, I'm half expecting some team to make a legit mid-round pick offer on Murray and watch him go full Justin Brazeau somewhere that gives him an opportunity -- and that's not going to be here.

Makes the preseason chatter of Helenius being an option for the big club look downright preposterous.

You certain Big Murr won't get a look here once we're running out the clock on the season? Especially if Greenway gets moved.

If they move on from Greenway, maybe. But I fully expect them to just force feed time to their higher draft picks instead. They'll cycle through Rosen and maybe give Ostlund or Wahlberg a game or two as a reward but there isn't a meritocracy in Buffalo, so no... I don't think they would give Murray that chance even if his play dictates otherwise.

The powerplay has dried up.

Regarding the Laval game:

It was impressive live, but they were just so worn out by the end of the three-in-three.

Mentioned down in his thread, Leone reported Kozak is now week-to-week after being diagnosed with an LBI. I wonder if he did something in that fight or if it was the leg on leg bit before the fight.

I remain impressed with Rathbone as an AHL level player. I still like him in his own zone more than Clague.

End of 1, 0-0 with the Amerks 0-1 on the PP. Shots are 14-8 for Rochester.

Metsa shoots, might be his goal, might be Dunne - basically everyone screening between the top of the slot and the Monsters' net. 1-0. Giving Dunne and Novikov the assists (Dunne won the draw, Novikov slipped it to Metsa and he walked the line for a shot... still not sure it will be his goal by the end of the game.)

Ostlund finishes off another Novikov and Rosen pass with Murray in front. Cleveland more than a bit discombobulated. Novikov was back out there after getting popped earlier, picks up another helper on that beauty pass.
