I think you better go back and do some research.

Not to mention the crap play and complete lack of effort Blake put forth in his 2nd stint with the Kings, Blake has a lot to answer for.

This has to be the dumbest thing Dean has done since becoming GM of the Kings.

I know plenty more about the situation than you. I've provided plenty of support to backup my statements, not irrational hatred like most of the others posting in here.

I don't think anyone forces people to pay their hard earned money on attending games. If people aren't happy with the team then why not just stay home, watch on tv and save your money. I doubt the players or owners really give a sweet chit, one way or the other.

Exactly if fans are truly upset with management the last thing to do is keep buying stuff and going to games.

So, being unhappy about a single aspect of something management does means you should stay home? If you don't like a single aspect of what is being done, when that aspect surfaces you should just shut up?

I guarantee you they care.

Ziggy does have some valid points guys. It wasn't 100% Blake's fault. A large portion of the first time Blake left and the bitterness is Lie-weekly and Kevin Gilmore's fault.

I have heard a few things over the years and there is some distrust with NHL players and The Kings from the way Blake was treated the first time.

I think part of Lombardi bringing him back (this time and the last time) was to tryt o mend the relationship. The first time, what happened with Chara was still fresh on his mind. I think after Kovalchuk and Richards, DL thought having guys like Luc and Blake(vomit) in the front office would help lure players here.

Read some of the stuff jt has posted over and over again. I know your display of arrogance is one of your favorite tactics, but it doesn't work on me. Calling someone irrational because they don't agree with you is a lot of bunk.

I know more than you do about the Blake situation. I'll leave it at that.

So you're saying he's like a worm. Okay!!!:D

I will agree with this. It wasn't 100% Blake's fault.

That doesn't excuse him from the parts that were his fault and his 2nd stint with the team.

Then go ahead and post some damn facts to back it up rather than writing a bunch of bullcrap. I have quotes and links that I've provided that document the entire thing. What do you have? Your opinion on the matter?

1 Hickey draft
2 Cloutier trade (and extension before 1 game played!!)
5 Bernier draft
50 - -
100 - -
300+/- Blake hired as asst GM.

I'm in between on this one. I just hated the fact that he wasn't going to re-sign with any team he got traded for, dropping his value, then ends up re-signing with Colorado. He wanted to be in LA; if that wasn't the case, he would have found a job with another team at this point.

I agree with that.

And **** him for his second stint.

Blake was already earning over $3M. He won the Norris and took on a $2M per year increase after winning the Norris Trophy and leading the Kings to their first playoff appearance in 5 years.

He had also played 24 (out of 48 games due to the lockout), 6, and 62 games for the Kings the prior 3 years. So it's not quite as lopsided a negotiation as you're making it sound.

He could've held out for more

Maybe, but that doesn't mean he'd have gotten it, or that he was worth it.

as he was looked to set the precedent for what top defensemen earn.

Which he did, when the Kings made him the highest paid Dman in the NHL by almost $800,000, a 17% increase over #2 Al MacInnis.

It wasn't long after where Pronger set that example when the Blues gave him $9M per year.

Yes it was a long time. It was three years later. And the Blues gave it to a Dman who not only just won the Norris but also won the Hart AND led his team to the President's trophy. AND Pronger hadn't missed 56% of his games the last 3 seasons (he missed 8%). Oh, and the Blues actually gave him $9.5M per year.

The Kings could've signed Blake at a longer term for slightly more than $5M (he was asking for around $6M or so I believe).

Well, they DID sign him for slightly more than $5M per season ($5,267,500). So, again, I don't know what you're talking about.

They screwed up royally and the market price for Blake skyrocketed after the Pronger contract. Go do some research and find out for yourself.

I have.............you have no idea.

So does jt. I'm not going to rehash the stuff from over 10 years ago. We have all read the facts and formed our own opinions.

People can argue back and forth over why or why not we should hate the guy until they're blue in the face.

But does anyone want to argue over why Blake is the best man for the job and we should be happy to have him?

I have already stated why I think there are other people in the organization that are imminently more qualified, but that didn't seem to matter.

Rob Blake is simply all class. Great player who gave his all in Colorado and San Jose. Had a little miss fortune to play on some terrible Kings teams how ever.

No flaming dude. We can argue back and forth and gladly carry on a healthy discussion but don't go to other team's boards to call teams or organizations terrible. Not tolerated around here.

That he was a big part of, that were supposedly led by him.

Plenty of nights in LA where he didn't give his all.

On the surface, this may look like a bad hire. But, this is going to have to be given time before we make any determinations. I'm sure Dean has his reasons. I'm sad to see Hextall go, but i'm willing to give this a chance.

My main problem with this hire is how Blake really hasn't paid his dues. I think this may cause some internal resentment (especially among Futa/Yannetti) and possibly some staff changes in the worst case.

I think Mr. James Norris in 97-98 disagrees. Plus he is a member of the triple gold club. The guy knows how to win.:yo:

One year doesn't discount the others. Especially the year after he won the norris......

One Norris Trophy, BFD. I'll give him this, Blake knows how to win when he is surrounded by a team of HOF'ers.
