Laval Rocket: 2024-25 Laval Rocket Thread

I'm not sure why some people are high on Farrell or why the Habs even drafted him. it's pretty clear that it's war in the playoffs and unless a smaller player has elite skills, or at least a few elite skills, it's going to be pretty tough to make it in the NHL.
I would not underestimate the high IQ, Harvard grad (economics major in 3 years). May not pan out, but too early to tell.

Who the f is this guy
You don’t actually believe that PV has authority to do whatever he wants to, do you? He’s the coach of an AHL team wholly owned by an NHL team. His job is to develop players for the Habs. If the Rocket also win, it’s a bonus.

You’re insufferable with this. Whoever that rando is, he doesn’t know anything about what’s going on behind the scene.

Because of 1 bad AHL playoff loss lmao

Some of you guys man lol..
No.. because of the entire season. Redenbacher is pretty much a guarantee, Fowler should be at some point next season, Beck & Xhekaj likely will at some point

That’s about it.

Thinking Davidson could be added there.......Tuch for the 4th line.....
Could be a couple of more players............the boys need to win game 5 and hit the next round.

Primeau gets the nod in game 5..................

Right, because you do. You’re very naive. It’s beyond obvious that the decision to start Fowler last night was not PV’s. No logical coach would have started Fowler over Primeau last night.

100%. A competent, professional coach would never have started Fowler. Probably why I will skip the game tomorrow.

Yeah, I agree. Could perhaps add Davidson and Tuch, but there’s no elite talent down in Laval.

We really don’t have any up and coming forwards (I’m exempting Demidov) besides Hage, so we better hope he hits. I’d like to see us draft two forwards at 16 and 17 assuming we don’t trade those picks for help.

It was reported today that Kent Hughes ripped to Vincent last night in the 2nd intermission for pulling Fowler. You are free to believe whatever you want to . . .

There's no way that's true lol. No General Manager, even if they wanted -their guy- to start, would advocate for leaving their prized goaltending prospect in the net to get completely blown out when he was obviously struggling.

If Rochester didn't score that 4th goal on that shift, I would have pulled him anyway. He was behind the play at that point. Not tracking the puck. He got rattled, started swimming, guessing and chasing. It happens.

Most competent professional coaches wouldn't have handled the goalie rotation as he has. I don't think Hughes told him to force Primeau into the net in game 3. I don't think Hughes told him to force Primeau into the net in game 1. I don't think he forced Fowler in net last game either.

I think Vincent has galaxy brained the goaltending decisions since Primeau got sent back down from the Habs and has succeeded in taking Fowler out of his groove and we will see if Primeau stays in a groove, thankfully he got some action last game after Fowler got pulled, so he hasn't sat for a few days when he gets the start tonight, which he absolutely should.

Laval has a difficult game ahead of them. No way they can have subpar goaltending today.

Other than Redenbacher, Beck, Fowler and maybe Engstrom, I don’t see any other future Habs players
I'm a bit more optimistic.

I would add Davidson, Tuch, Florian Xhekaj and Kapanen to the list of prospective Canadiens. Davidson because of his pro-style approach, high intensity, physicality and shot; Tuch because of his NHL level skating and controlled physicality; Florian because of his combination of size, hockey skills and straight forward speed.; and Kapanen because of his overall skill set and positional importance.

As I noted in one of my earlier posts, if Hughes is truly dead set on moving up in the upcoming draft or overpaying for our mystically missing second center, the cost will almost assuredly include one of these noted potential players. If I'm another general manager, I'm asking for Tuch or Engstrom, the two players (along with Beck) who already possess high NHL skating ability ability.

Some players develop, some don't. Some reaches their ceiling earlier, some don't. So weaknesses will always be an issue if they can't fix it. So it's an issue that needs fixing. Pretty sure I never said that he will never fix it.....
Has this been an issue for Fowler in college as well?

As far as what the AHL is for, yeah mostly. You still need to win at one point so that OTHER players on that team benefit from the development we all love and adore. Fowler isn't the only player in need of development. How about Engstrom, Reinbacher, Beck, Xhekaj, Tuch and the rest of the guys? So Fowler absolutely needs a rotation for his development...but how about Mesar's? He's done?
Mesar?

No clue, I was responding to your comment about Fowler specifically.

They all need development time, win or lose, at the AHL level all of that is good.
You talk about Fowler in 3-4 years while there are other prospects in there that could also benefit from development in a longer playoffs, players that are older and you need more info on them WAY sooner than what you need from Fowler.
Sure don't disagree but the point I was making was more about the process being more important than the results at this stage.

Whether the Rocket win this series or not, its been a hugely successful season for them on the development front.
