His induction guarentees that his number will go to the rafters. Isn't the organization planning this for years? They didn't give Scuderi #4 in 2009. And him winning the cup with Kings should help binding up the wounds. Whatever happened, happened. Time to move on.

Is there a pic of him hoisting the cup (with Kings obviously)? I haven't seen any, it's a darn shame he hesitated to do it in front of the crowd.

Okay, if Blake is in then Doug Wilson should be in as well, but that's grade inflation for you today. That, and having worked in the NHL offices and being friends with the right folks on the selection committee.

Sorry, his selection to the HOF is very borderline IMO.

I don't disagree and really on the same reasons, Doug Wilson is a great comparable. I thought Blake had a 40% chance of making it in eventually, so I obviously lowballed it because I think I let his Kings history cloud his everything-else history, but I was shocked he got in so quickly and before others.

Imagine you being a long time employee at your company and they offer you less to stay there and threaten to get rid of you if you don't agree to their terms only. Are you going to bend over backwards for that?

No but I'd be careful not to let down everyone else that might be counting on me.

I'm sure I could find a way to leave without publicly screwing over my coach, teammates, and fans.

But none of those people got screwed over, as much as the fans would like to think otherwise. Hated seeing him go, but you have to admit he made the right decision. Look where his career went and look where the Kings went. And it wasn't a matter of him controlling where he ended up when he was traded. That was all on the Kings.

Think that you could say that for a first year selection, maybe. But not overall.
As to Doug Williams he now remains one of two Norris winners that aren't in the Hall that are eligible. Winning the Norris is almost a lock when you look at it. He still might make it as an executive. Not quite she why he's one of the two that aren't there.

I feel like only a select group of fans feel they were screwed over. The rest of the fans, coaches and teammates seem to only talk highly of him.

You don't think more than a handful of stomachs turned over when their captain decided he was going to make a big public stink about his contract a year before it was over? I know Andy Murray was visibly upset by the move. I'm sure the players have long since moved on but you don't think that pissed a few people off? Really?

Regardless of what was said behind closed doors, I just don't like that move.

I can forgive him going to colorado and winning a cup. I can forgive him bolting to our division rival a second time.

But tearing your "C" off the sweater? In the words of the great Don Corleone: "That I cannot forgive"

Interesting you quoted Don Corleone. That scene you quoted is about his son Michael coming back from Italy and maybe having an unfortunate accident. But the gist of this is that he "forgives" whoever it was that killed Sonny (his oldest) in the first place.

So the question to you is, if Don Corleone can forgive those that killed his first son, will you forgive Rob Blake for "tearing off the 'C'"?

Man, this is some heavy **** right 'chere.

I don't recall him wearing any other color as a king. Did he ever wear the purple & gold?

He wore the purple and silver set too. I'm saying I want to see him in the old 90's/Gretzky era jersey.

EDIT: He also wore the purple & gold for a game I believe.

haha boy thats some logic. I really can't argue with that.

lol, of course I forgive Blake. I'm just not a huge fan, don't consider him a Kings hero, and won't attend his jersey hanging.

It's not like I'll spit at the dude or anything. I might grab him and say "I knew it was you, you broke my hawt".

What's with you and the "hero" nonsense??? He's a hockey player, not a super hero! Believe it or not, captains of hockey teams are human beings, and as human beings, we all make mistakes and overreact.

It's not nonsense. Honestly, we all know the difference between a decorated war veteran, or an experienced fireman and a hockey player.

C'mon dude, you know what I mean. You look at the jerseys up in the rafters and each one of those people was a true leader and a "hero" to the Kings.

I believe if you allow yourself to, you can wrap your head around this concept.

Rob Blake deserves to be in the Hall of Fame and is a great representative of Kings hockey. I haven't understood the negativity placed towards him from the start but I get the passion behind it. I am happy to see him inducted and proud to have him as a life long member of an honor that more often than not represents the best of what hockey can bring out of a player.

Rob Blake, congratulations on this honor.

Now go out and add more honors to your career with the Kings and in doing so more reasons for us all to be proud of you.

There's only one person up on the rafters that I truly respect as a person, and that's Dave Taylor. Everyone else...they're just hockey players who happen to wear the kings jersey.

That just comes down to a difference of opinion, correct?

I'd hate to call your take "nonsense".
