Like I said, hockey players aren't heroes, that's the only point I was making.

I get you but don't you think there are some heroic qualities to inspiring young people to play hockey? Inspiring people to do things at the highest possible level? To show people what true commitment is?

I guess you can reserve the term strictly for firefighters and spiderman but I think the word has a broader meaning than you.

A good role model would be like a math tutor or something.

I was devastated when Blake left. At that time he was my favourites ever King. I don't forgive him though as for me there is nothing to forgive. Someone said he ripped off the "C" over his contract, but I don't see it that way. By being told 'sign or we get rid of you' the Kings ripped HIS heart out, they were telling him he was just an asset when I'm sure he would have felt like the Kings were his family. Sure I was devastated but I'm certain he was devastated too. That's why the "C" came off.

I'm sure most of us would have reacted emotionally under such circumstances because the Kings matter to us as much as they matter to him. If he didn't care I'm sure he would have happily carried on as Captain, but given the situation I'm sure he felt he could no longer do the job justice. I know I couldn't. He didn't take thy easy way out by going through the motions, he did it the hard way. Not the actions of a guy worried about his contract.

So well done Rob Blake on your well deserved induction and may a deserved Number retirement follow in due course.
