I can't find every instance where Bob stated that Shattenkirk is not a possibility so I would be shocked if you never heard it being a daily watcher. He was beating that drum for months though.

13:45 is the only time he's mentioned and its not even Bob

He still doesn't say that Shattemkirk would not sign an extension in Edmonton and neither has Friedmann(at least not in his tweets)

This does not count as Elliotte Friedman

That isnt the only mention of it, just the first to come up on a google search. There were multiple times that Bob shut down callers suggesting we go after Shatty and would do the whole " Read between the lines" bit. You can choose to be one of the only people to not accept what everyone else seems to. An American player not wanting to play in Edmonton shouldn't come as a surprise.

Any interest in Brandon Sutter, Jordan Subban, and a conditional 2018 1st or 2nd round pick (depending on how many games Subban plays in the 2017-18 season)?

Yeah, b/c Brandon Sutter's an elite 3rd-liner, and if Subban's a flop, then that 2018 1st-rounder could be a top-10 pick

You can choose just to follow what rumours start on HF but are never substantiated.
No, its not surprising that an American player wouldnt want to play in Canada.

Edit: Just realized this is an old discussion - I'm speaking in favor of a Dubinsky + Savard for RNH + Fayne deal.

Yeah that first deal shouldn't fly for the Oilers.

I hate the current Jackets approach of seeking grit and character over pure skill, but a 1-2 of Draisatl and Dubois followed by Jones/Werenski/Murray on the back end? Come on...

That's not the counterfactual. Dubois and those D are not being traded.

The choice is

Draisaitl
Dubinsky

Or

Wennberg
RNH

I think for right now the first duo is better, and I expect Draisaitl to be the best player in the long run, but Wennberg and RNH are close behind. In a few years Dubinsky won't be anywhere close. He'll be a decent 3C paid like a top six C.

Long term:
Draisaitl > Wennberg > RNH >> Dubinsky

-------------------------------------------

In any case I don't think the Draisaitl deal works from an Edmonton perspective. I think Dubi + Savard for RNH + Fayne is ideal for both clubs. Watching Eric Gryba right now I think Edmonton ought to jump at it.

On what planet? Wennberg is only a year younger than RNH

I'd probably go as high as Brett Pesce (expansion exempt, big, mobile 2nd pairing RD) + Teravainen.

Don't think TT to Edmonton is a great fit if he's looking for someone great on faceoffs

Three way trade:

To Edmonton:
Pesce + Vermette + [value gap between Vermette and TT (2nd rounder?)]

To Carolina:
RNH

To Anaheim:
Teravainen

Anaheim saves 900K salary and gets the offensive winger they can use (rakell takes vermette's spot)

Carolina gets RNH for Pesce and TT as you suggested

Edmonton gets Vermette, who is a great faceoff man + the RHD they need + [value addition] instead of TT who is more of a winger at this point

I know. But not every young player grows at the same rate.

Long term I think Wennberg is a 55-65 pt center with Selke caliber defense (Wennberg finished with 39 in 54, and has 3 pts in his first 2, so it's not like he has to give us something he's incapable of giving). If RNH was growing year to year I might think he could be better than that but I don't see it. I think 50-60 pt player with good defense - so he'd be valuable but a bit ill suited for a #1C.

I'd consider myers and Lowry if Jets convinced trouba to sign. And that's pretty fair I think. But it probably only works if trouba signs with the jets.
