Confirmed with Link: RIP Johnny & Matthew Gaudreau

MacInnis declined having his number retired. He didn't feel it was right since he had his number retired by the Blues and was still working for them. Him declining was the entire reason they created Forever a Flame, it was a happy medium that he would agree to.

That said, I think Fleury is the guy you compare him to... who by all accounts would have had his number retired if he wasn't a piece of trash.
Interesting, I didn't know that. Changes things for sure.

Saw a pic on reddit, Wolf has a new mask and Gaudreau is on the back, along with some skittles and purple gatorade.

Today was amazing w the tribute/Gaudreau banner raising featuring Monahan at centre w Meredith and the kids during the pre-game. Then starting the game one down on the left wing and letting 13 sec tick off. A+ to everyone involved tonight.

Mony just tallied and pointed up to the banner/heavens. Never. In. Doubt.

Chills.

Apparently Caufield changed to 13 in honor of Johnny. Against CBJ tonight, he scored his 13th goal with 13 mins left in the game and assisted on Slafkovsky's 13th assist.

Matthew seemed to have made an appearance too because it was CBJ's 21st game of the season and the goal occurred when CBJ was up 2-1.

With a coincidence like that, gotta think those two are making quite an impression on the hockey gods.

And of all players to be on the ice at the time it happened, coincidentally Monahan was on the ice when Montreal scored on the PP.

Wow.

The skeptic in me had to fact check this:
  1. Caufield's 13th goal - Correct
  2. 13 mins left in the game - Incorrect
  3. Slafkovsky's 13th assist - Incorrect
  4. CBJ's 21st game of the season - Correct
  5. goal occurred when CBJ was up 2-1 - Correct
#2, the goal happened at 06:34 in the second period. However that means there was 13:26 left in the period. 13 minutes and 26 seconds = 13 times 2

#3, 11th assist, BUT 13th point.

That's really uncanny.

Thanks for fact checking. What you clarified seems to make it even more impressive/uncanny.

Saying 13 times 2, it make me think... 13 x 1, and 13 x 2 happens, so 21 can pop up again. A stretch, but the fact it's even doable is another layer of uncanny.

Reminds me of all the 7s when it came to 2Pac's death. I don't know how much of them were true, but it made a good story with his first posthumous album being The 7 Day Theory

That was a touching tribute.
I have to say, Ryan Leslie is a pros pro. He's hurting, that was a friend of his, and he still interviewed everyone, everyone who was emotionally charged and tryin not to cry.
