Kidney was traded to the Olympiques today. Sorry, I might be late on this. Looks like it was already posted

You are late. It's already been posted here. 🤣

Victoriaville
Gatineau, Québec, Victo and Sherbrooke are the teams to beat. They needed a goalie and they needed a more potent offence. They have it now.
Gatineau, Sherbrooke and Victoriaville are all in the same division, we will see tough matchup in the 2nd round.

still a periphery player...
He’s now on a team with a bunch of good players who go to the net so he doesn’t have to go to the tough areas, just put the puck there.

Kidney should be in the scoring race but it doesn’t really mean progression.

Still, don’t knock stats. Scoring correlates better than just about anything else with long term success.

A very good AHL player in the making.

Both most likely and worst case. Probably depends on the team and line. Drouin scored when the team was scoring and he’d be fine on a line with two big guys who go to the net and cause havoc.

Upside: Mike Ribeiro
Downside: Ben Maxwell

:p
I actually see a lot of similarities between him and Maxwell. Beside the fact that they were both 2nd round picks, Kidney is skilled, has a good IQ but skating and physical play (winning 1vs1 battles) could prevent him from having an NHL career.

He's scoring a lot more than Ben Maxwell ever did.

Yeah, that's what their hcokeydb pages are telling. As you can read in my post, I was talking in term of attributes, not stats. They roughly have the same flaws and they happen to be very important in pro hockey.
Well, I would argue Ben Maxwell's biggest flaw was that he was never productive enough, so I guess we disagree. Was Ben Maxwell a Team Canada guy? I can't remember.

Ben Maxwell? I mean, the kid had a career high 60 points one year in the WHL - Kidney almost has that this year, and put a cool 100 points up last season in the Q. Not sure the two are comparable.

Edit: Maxwell's numbers weren't THAT good in the AHL either. His first season, he notched 22 goals and 58 points and declined from there on in. His points weren't exactly mind blowing... (58, 44, 41, 25, 40)

Curiously, Maxwell was a far more dynamic skater. I fall among those who question this player's upside potential when watching his rather pedestrian level of skating.
Maxwell looked so good in development camps. One of those guya who just couldn't play with any kind of grit and faded quickly. He would have probably been pretty good in 3v3s.

17 points in his last 5 games.
Right. Even without taking away the 1st game he played with Gatineau where he went pointless, 17 points in 6 games in Gatineau is insane production.

I look forward to his future development. He looks so young out there. His 6ft frame is projectable enough, but he needs to put on a lot of mass to have success in the pros.

I think that is why he wasn't as ready for opportunities as a guy like Joshua Roy. In 2 years, he could look like a very different player. The jury is still out on this one.
