The DoPS, the refs, the broadcasts, all working so diligently to show they do not have a Leafs bias only to end up having one against them. Insane.

The collective (everyone not Toronto) have been working the refs since Ballard died. Ballard ensured Leaf sabotage, but once the old bastard was gone it became necessary to execute and hide the anti-Toronto bias.

Where are you going to find 10 impartial referees and a commissioner who is honest for a league like that?
So you stay with Bettman who in 25+ years as commish hired his 1st Toronto ref in NHL in 2022 since he inherited Wes after Jacobs hired him .. da league is a joke .. fyi da best ref in past 25 years in hockey (as per O and A ratings) (whose dad was a leaf season ticket holder so full disclosure) never made it past ref qualifying school where top 8-10 refs audition for new nhl jobs .. it is my understanding that over 30 G refs have made it to audition stage school but NOT a single one was ever hired by league til 2022 .. if this is your definition of honesty then -- oh well .. it is a statistical impossibility that biggest league in world da G with BY FAR which produces da most refs in world would not produce 1 single new NHL ref in over 25 years .. meanwhile Boston has quite a few .. doesn't it seem quite ridiculous that Boston has produced over 10 NHL refs since Bettman took charge and Toronto has produced 1 (in 2022) .. oh well i guess it is par for da course as NO Canadian team has won a Cup (not including Bettman' 1st 6 months when he was in a transitional role) since Bettman took over .. AGAIN another near statistical impossibility .. it is rather strange how NO one reports da truth .. da whole thing STINKS and people in hockey all know it .. Leaf mgmt ie Shanny is well aware of what is going on in NYC and why he wanted OUT asap

Not at all .. game played today is a socialized mediocre game .. i am talking of best on best hockey every single night .. fyi we did not win every year when only da best played .. there was a ton of competition which would also elevate da game .. also best players can makee what they deserve to make like most free market businesses

I'm all for implementing soft cap, let us overpay for an extra price, and everybody wins.

At the same time, I don't like that we are resigned to having the most incompetent set of management in the league, clown of a coach, overpaid stars and we want to fix it by removing cap :D.

We can't win because we drafted and developed team when conditions are somewhat equal. No cup run with a bunch of underdogs going to SC finals. No cup runs were carried by the best goal scorer in the league. No fairy tale run with a brilliant coaching strategy. Nope

If we could just overpay a bit more... But I agree, it takes a team to win the Cup, we might struggle to get past the second round spending twice the current cap(probably paying the same 4 forwards :D) and I wouldn't be surprised.

Yeah I don't say dops is good or consequent. Those two are good examples of players who should have gotten longer suspensions. I think Perron is a relevant comparison in that it was a cross check to the head well after play has been blown dead and in the same season. I said 3-5 games would ve reasonable for Rielly when it happened so 5 is on the upper end but not unreasonable in my opinion and I make no claims to be impartial as an Ottawa fan!

He crosschecked the arm. It rode up and hit the head. Its like saying murder and manslaughter are the same and get the same punishment.

He didnt even use the force required to injure.

2 games. Case closed, see ya at the beach cool guy.

I see that the moderating on this forum mirrors that of Parros and the DOPS. Hilarious what they are banning posters for in the main board Morgan thread

They don’t like it when leaf fans fight back. Just like the NHL doesn’t like it when leaf players fight back

Just wanted to say that somewhere in here I said I thought Rielly’s actions would further help the team and bring them together.

These are the actions of ‘team first’ that the leafs have been building on this year after the clown show that was the Lilly injury.

The two instigator penalties

McCabe and Benoit the new bash brothers

Rielly saying “welcome to the NHL, kid”

All good things for team building

Appreciate the respectful comment.

Respectfully, imo, the Perron incident was a poster example of someone who took two hands, saw a face they wanted to cross check, and then cross checked it. And the person did nothing, and had no idea it was coming. Which is worlds apart from what happened in Toronto.

Zubs experience in his next game, was very different than Griegs in Columbus.

Yeah man, what da puck, da reffing is corrupt, what da puck!!!! What DA puck...da da daaaaaaaaaa

At least we know that Shanahan and MLSE are the boyscouts of the league while simultaneously being the biggest joke in the league.

People complain about Jacobs but at least he doesn't just roll over like this organization does, and it trickles down to the team.

Even Keefe stepped away from his boyscout persona for this one.
didnt Jacob's team roll over in round 1 last year after setting records in regular season?

Optimistically, Bettman knocks a game or two off. He did it with Spezza so the precedent exists where he corrects Parros' heavy-handedness.
I don't mind if Rielly serves all 5 just because the guy deserves the break, lol but I would love Bettman to knock it down a couple games just for the melt down on the main boards again.

My intention wasn't really to paint Boston as the perfect organization, though I'd certainly take 1 cup and 3 finals appearances in the last 30 years. People often complain about Jacobs input.

I'd like Shanahan and the MLSE to have a spine and defend their players beyond a paycheque.

Boston is so fortunate they got to get away with murder against Vancouver in the 2011 Finals otherwise they'd be Sharks East. But hey you knock on the door enough times eventually you're going to break through. They've made 7 Finals since they won in '72. You go to the Finals 7 times in 50 years good chance you're gonna win one of them, and they did. I'm sure if the Leafs had managed to make 7 Stanley Cup Finals since '67 (instead of the current 0 jfc) we'd have a post-expansion Cup in the trophy case.

Best of both worlds would be Bettman knocking a few games off and Rielly choosing to sit them out anyway.

3 games to go? If we in any shape or form win those or 2of 3 please dont relax when the dude comes back. Happens way to often in cases like this.

“I thought [the empty netter] was ridiculous, honestly. I’m on Rielly’s side on this one. Obviously it was an accident to cross-check him in the face. I don’t think there’s any intent there, but you’re absolutely going to be aware of that. It was a young kid with not very much experience in the league. Maybe he needs some perspective there not to do that.”

“Also, you’re not going to turn away and go to the bench when a guy takes a slap shot in your crease like that. There was some frustration with losing the game and giving up an empty netter anyway. There’s just certain things in the game where you’ve signed up for the logo you wear on the front. And you don’t want to be disrespected like that.”
