Rielly’s response to Greig was…

Funny thing is the Leafs will justify their toilet paper softness by saying you see what happens when we get tough? As for the core, their DNA doesn’t know how to spell grit and pushback, so they didn’t even notice that something happened.

Maybe it's in my head, but I really want to look at all the suspensions and fines over the last three years and try to believe there is a method or is it just madness? Some of the fines they have handed out have been an absolute joke. Even looking at some of the videos above. How is that crosscheck on Vesey any different. Game was completely over. Zero hockey play. Fine. WTH?

Non-leaf fan here (definite non-leaf fan lol).
Thought a response was warranted, but not a crosscheck to the head (that was over the top).
But I don't necessarily think that Rielly went in there with the intent to crosscheck him in the head, but he got his stick up and he did (guys get their sticks up, as it were, all the time. Not sure why you can't just keep your stick down and get a guy in the ribs or something).
Anyway, I thought Greig's was a dick move and deserved a response (he also should've have known it was dick move, well I guess he did lol, and been ready for some sort of response).
But a shot to the ribs or something and a scrum would've been fine.
But since Rielly actually *did* crosscheck him in the head, completely intentional or not, it warrants a suspension.
Anyway, this ain't figure-skating boys. Act like a jerk (Greig) and get treated like a jerk,. But a crosscheck to the head is too much.

Well, their march into new and indifferent US markets is also subsidized by a lot of Leafs dollars so it’s time for MLSE to flex.

Unless Bell and Rogers are playing nice to get Toronto II one day.
Oh I agree with you. But MLSE never flexes lol. That's the problem.

The Edmundson cross check to Simmonds face in the playoffs was another confusing decision by the league on these cases. Typically injury is the driver, but that hasn't even been consistent

Which of those were clearly after the whistle?
It's more about awareness and vulnerability than before or after the whistle IMO. Greig was more expecting and less vulnerable than Stone for example.

They may not be wrong. I go back to the Bruins Leafs game in the Kadri days which may have been one of the worst officiated games (outside of the US / Canada gold meal womens game) I have ever seen. Bruins got away with everything. Every time this Leafs team even tries to step up for themselves it feels like an arm goes up. I hate having such a soft team. Drives me nuts.

Someone posted it in a different thread, but I believe that San Jose, Boston and Washington have lost the most number of man-games (or maybe it's highest dollar amount of salary lost) to suspensions over the last few years (excluding the Pinto suspension and PED suspensions).

After the whistle is way worse. There is zero argument that it was part of the play. It is 100 percent retribution at that point.

Lmao the main board thread for this has 2000+ posts and will be 3k by the end of the day. Hating on the Leafs is half the reason these fans watch hockey.

100%

Majority of votes aginst Rielly are other fans on this board who live for trolling.

League knows that if Nashville, Dallas, LA, Colorado, Florida, Tampa, Vegas had the same treatment as Leafs, it'd be an EMPTY ARENA.

NOONE cares about Hockey in the USA. Beer and Celebrations or they'll move on.

Other teams are like whores, once you don't win and get too many PKs and ref penalizes your team unfairly, bye bye... Next energy gold digger to cheer for like NFL,NBA, PGA, Nascar or Duck hunting.

Leafs and original 6 teams, die hard fans no matter what and Bettman is syphoning us

I would have did what Rielly did if not worse. That would make it the wrong thing to do.

Do you think Benny's cross check to Stones face while he is laying on the back is part of the play or retribution? What about Lizotte cross checking Morrisey at the Blueline while the opposing D is retrieving the puck and Morrisey is going for a change?

The point isn't that Rielly was part of the play, rather very few of these are.

I'm expecting 5 games because DoPS is going do DoPS things..... I assume this has been posted somewhere in this 20 page thread but if not......

Someone explain to to me the difference between this play and Morgan's

The only thing surprising and out the norm about the whole situation is the fact there’s a in-person hearing. It makes no sense.
