Rick Tocchet not returning to the Canucks

Toch taking ALOT if heat in Van.

People labeling him as a Quitter and Fraud.

He preached " fighting pressure with pressure" and "Growing through adversity" bla bla bla

then the moment a season doesnt go his way, he is out the door. So long Toch.

Hopefully for other team's sake, they dont hire this guy...he is all defensive, and will destroy the confidence of any offensive minded player trying to make plays. He did it with Pettersson, Hoglander, Kuzmenko etc. He does not like young players on the team unless he has to ice them due to injuries. Look at how much better the Utah young players are now compared to when they were straddled with Toch.

I do have to hand it to him tho, his system can work in the playoffs with the right type of lineup. Its like watching paint dry in the regular season though.
 
It was a hell of a ride for Vancouver but it looks like their window has closed. Time to do a full tear down and rebuild.

Van offers 20 million. Philly offers 30 million. Tocchet would be a moron to not go for the cash. It’s guaranteed money. Plus it’s his home. Win win for him.

i just want to get this out there..... that Tocchet lives in Vegas full time, so its kinda weird, hes moving out east... but who are we to say. If he wants to go just let him go. He's not great in terms of tactics anyways.

Nah, Calgary was worst. Losing Tkatchuk and Gaudreau, because both requested a trade. We traded Miller once we found out the feud wouldnt be healthy, he never requested a trade. Same with Quinn or Boeser.

It wasnt Canucks and certainly not a lack of practice facility. No one is dumb enough to decline 4 million year because of lack of practice facility. It had to do with family reasons and wanting to be in the east. Thats the only thing worth more than the money that was offered by Canucks. People here and media love to put down Canucks for every move even ones not in their control.

Van owner offers 20 million. Philly owner offers 30 million. Yes, Philly is on a downward trend but the money is guaranteed and Tocchet gets to be close to home. Flyers can be sh*t. Tocchet gets fired. But he still gets to sleep most nights in his own bed and collect all the 30 million.

Philly has some young good young talent, I would say they are on an upward trend...

I don’t blame him. The best players he had on his team are all going to be gone within two years of a president’s trophy. I’ve quit due to shitty management before as well. And I’m not even rich!

The entire team’s culture is broken from top to bottom. He came in, fought it and got a pretty near lottery team to massively overachieve.

Then they crashed back to earth and he’s the bad guy, despite this mess going on long before him and about to continue king after him.

You can’t send a message to a group of guys who don’t care. You can’t build winners and leaders out of a broken group. At some point the message gets lost and you realize it and move on. The Canucks will never due to ownership but they really should start retooling and picking up high draft picks.

Not trying to be rude but need to point out his playoff coaching record is 11 wins vs 11 losses.

edit: no idea why I started worrying about being rude for the first time since April 15, 2007.
