Florida are the heavy favorites here. I don’t think anybody is giving Toronto a hope in hell at winning this

When has anyone ever done that anyways? Sens were going to sweep the Leafs, then reverse sweep them. Now Panthers gunna sweep them.

Hopefully Panthers are celebrating like their fans. Not going to know what hit them game 1

If the leafs stars show up then leafs should win. That’s a big if obviously, but just Florida doesn’t have the elite talent that Toronto does. Florida has the better depth, but Toronto’s revamped defence will help shut that down. Florida’s defence isn’t impressive. Goalies are a wash, slight edge to bobrovsky given his experience.

Still good with my prediction of leafs in 6, but I could see Florida taking it to 7. I should give some more respect to the defending champs.
I just appreciate you giving the Panthers enough respect to say they'll take as many games as the Ottawa Senators

Hahahaha, no one is afraid of that little nothing.

None of them can handle our guys. Maurice also has Gadjovich to turn to.
I don't think it is so much a question about the secondary guys having push back with the Leafs tbh...like all this talk of who won what fight is kind of irrelevant lol it's about engaging in the fight. The Leafs top guys have to be in the fight or they have no chance. Guys like Knies, McCabe and Benoit can handle themselves, doesn't matter if Matthews and Marner get bullied the entire time.

Come on Florida, upgrade that 2nd to a 1st, please.

Even more motivation. Eliminate Panthers AND force Bruins fans to watch Marchand playing for them for only a 2nd?

Someday we will never have to hear the Leafs are soft crap ever again (despite the Leafs beating up most teams that play them for at least 3 years now).

Maybe after this series.

Leafs have nothing to lose. Everyone expects them to get swept here anyway. Less pressure on them in this series against Florida imo.

and from those 2 million posts 1 million is about "this is the year, finally it is"

also there is at least 1 million post on main forum by Leafs fans "this is the Leafs year"
What? The biggest fanbase in hockey cheering for their team?

I mean, what fanbase, in any sport, cheers for their team?

I thought fatigue may be a factor, but then you guys bodied a Tampa roster that was even better than last year's version and made it look easy.

The biggest obstacle with the Panthers to win another SC is themselves. From time to time, even in the playoffs, they just aren't motivated to put the required effort in to winning a given game. The meager success at the end of the reg season wasn't because of fatigue but lack of motivation. These guys just won't show up if the stakes aren't high enough.

The Leafs have a better chance at winning this series if they somehow manage to keep it as skills competition. But if they offer a casus belli to the Panthers through provocation or without one then it's over for the Leafs.

If people want the core to lead the charge physically it isn't going to happen but that is a dumb expectation. They just need to fight through and give back what they can.

Like Nylander last night. Gets buried by Kleven, gets up shakes it off skates directly down the rink and finishes a check back as hard as he is able. That spirit will get it done

Leafs are winning game 1. That is the HockeyVirus guarantee.

I'd love to take the Leafs, but until they prove to me that they can beat Florida, I can't.

Florida in 7.

The big question for this series is how will/can the Leafs match up Floridas 3rd line

That forward group is a match up nightmare
They're loaded. Great team from top to bottom, and the defending champs.

But, to take the belt, gotta knock out the champ, right? I think the Leafs will definitely give them a run for their money.

I think Knies pulls a Kreider and puts Bob out.
I think Patches will get a game or 2 for a boarding or headshot

Well that isn't happening because like Leaf fans have been saying to deaf ears, they are not a skill team and haven't been forever. They play Berube hockey. 2-1 wins, grind it out. They have done it all season

Lmao. Who? Please say Reaves.
Reaves?? hell no, think more like dirty cross checks making guys go head 1st into the boards, or accidently falling and smashing the goalie.
There is no one on the Cats we're worried about. were going to do what we want
Sens tried to play that tough style in gm 1 and 2, didn't go so well

Not trying to take anything away from Ottawa, but Leaf’s did not play their best against them.
It will absolutely taking the Leafs playing their best against Florida.

History isn’t on my side so maybe you can just call it blind faith at this point, but I do think this is a different team than years past.

If Panthers can stay healthy shouldnt be a problem. Tkachuk is already at 50% tho.

I agree. Those 3 will all be a problem for the Panthers to some degree, as will Domi. OEL has way more jam than I expected from him when we had him, he’ll bring it as well.

But if the core guys don’t buy in and bring it, it’s going to be a long series. The Panthers come as an entire team. They all get it, they all thrive on it, and they’ll keep coming. I’m not discounting the Leafs, I don’t discount anyone…but I was curious to see who exactly can handle our guys the way the poster claimed.

The core is butter, until they show that they have more in them, that will continue. Sorry man.

If the Leafs get by us, whoever they meet in the next round will have their hands full. The Finals could be another story, but the Leafs will be full of confidence and bravado.

Such a joke. Hagel took out Barkov and the Cats tuned their whole team up. These kind of posts are so dumb. They touch Bob I guarantee Leafs will be crying about what the response for decades.
