I saw the AV quote as our "top" not "best" player and it was top regarding scoring chances as charted by the coaching staff. If the quote I saw was right that's just a statement of fact. He's had the most scoring chances. The fact that you couple that with zero goals can suggest he's been one of the worst players.
It can?

LOL at the use of Nash and "best player" in the same sentence. Literally, I laughed out loud at that concept. That's actually one of the funniest thing's I've read ever.

Some people are so delusional.

Yes, he's blowing all those chances some of which his teammates gave him on a silver platter. When he threw it through the crease to the ref instead of into the wide open net he basically took away a goal from us, because any other player on the team buries that in the back of the net.

"Nash is being paid as the best player". See? Makes sense. ;)

happy he got one. he played well and now that the monkey is off bhis back hopefully he goes on a tear

I think he's been playing well for the entire playoffs just not scoring...He def hasn't been dogging it and he's been pretty physical too..Lets hope like all goal scorers this goal gets him going and he starts scoring in bunches...If so we go to another level

Step 1: Score a goal - Check
Step 2: Score an important goal...

Gotta check off number 2 now. Hopefully this is the beginning of a hot streak for him.

Yeah about time. Hopefully this puts a fire under his ass. Even though it was meaningless to the game it might have impact on his further performance and the team as a whole. Hopefully..

Hope this ignites a scoring surge from him. He played well today and even though his goal was meaningless it was still in the back of the net. Scorers score in bunches, hot streaks, nobody is putting up a gag, so hopefully this will turn out to be the start of one of those streaks

I missed the third period on television, but I watched him close during the first two.

What struck me was that he looks....just slow along the wall. Can't seem to hold onto or handle the puck very well. His feet are not moving enough.

Again, he is not the same player we saw during the season at different point. Mental? Physical? I have no idea.

He just does not look....right to me.

Really glad he scored. Hopefully he feels better.

He's working his butt off. Glad to see him get one. Lots more space in this series. He'll need to take advantage.

hopefully that goal gets him going. if he can go on a tear like he did before the olympics, all will be forgiven especially if it ends with him hoisting a cup.

pretty huge if though

Biggest takeaway from game 1, Nash scored. So happy for the big guy, he was firing shots from the blue line. Whatever it took

Nash scored a goal.
Baby steps, and all that stuff.
If I am to be ultra-pie-in-the-sky optimistic, I think back to that time he broke a long goal drought in the season, following it up with a run of them.
TBH, I did not see anything noteworthy from him offensively today, same as previous games. But, as people say, if the team can more than fill in that vacancy, maybe he eventually gets at least a useful offensive game back.

I thought his puck control was miles ahead of what it had been previously. It was painfully easy to pick it off him the last few games. Today he held on to it well IMO. That's pretty key for him.

There's going to be a ton more room out there this series. He should be able to take advantage.

Let's hope for that. I never write players off (mostly). I would love for him to succeed, for various reasons.

Gotta start somewhere, you know? This was a good building block for Nash. If he can keep improving every game, the forward depth gets very serious very fast.

Nash is averaging 2 points per game over his career in the conference finals and finals! ;)
