So you would be happy with your best player scoring 49 points in 82 games, earning nearly $8M for the effort? He had a good amount of GWG. Look under the hood and you see that more than half were early in the game, the first or second Rangers goal. Not exactly clutch game winners. Like praising a 2nd inning game winning hit when the pitcher threw a shutout. If Nash's GWG is all you're hanging your hat on, it's a pretty thin rationale for support. The fact that he scored 12% of the team's goals is more an indictment of the rest of the team.

Not true about gomez.
Fact remains without Nash on this team the Rangers would not be where they are. Is he overpaid, yes, is he under performing in the playoffs, yes.
Slumps happen to even the best players, but consistently bashing him for one underwhelming playoff run is absolutely laughable.

I thought "Rick Nash was brought here to score goals" yet you counter with points since his on pace for 33 goals and leading the team past 2 years doesn't bode well for you?
He had 7 3rd period Goals. So 11% of games he played he scored in the 3rd period. I guess that is awful also.
Your last point is that it is an indictment to the rest of the team yet you are in the Rick Nash thread bashing him, why are you not bashing the rest of the team?

I doubt it...after last years horrible playoff showing he said he thought he played good....probably will say the same this year.
I do bash the rest of the team when warranted. Frankly I think the rest of the team, in general, has played above expectation the past few weeks. Had they lost game 5 (or 6 or 7) to Pittsburgh, we're having the same old discussion about how the Rangers continue to disappoint. Instead, the team woke up and has played very good hockey. No reason to bash their performance of late.

CLAUSES: NMC (2010-11 through 2014-15); NTC (2015-16 through 2017-18). He really is not going anywhere unless you buy him out. 2.6 buyout hit next 8 years. Save 5.3 million the first 4 years. Its really not that bad when you think about it and the cap going up. Not advocating it/it wont happen at all, but just trying to look at it from a cap numbers perspective. The bottom line is Rick Nash is NOT 7.8 player, and in a tough cap system thats hard to live with. Sather has to much pride and ego to suck it up anyway and realize he gutted the team for a shell. And then traded Gaborik to restock his mistake. Nothing can be done.
At least after his concussions Lindros still played with some grapes and skated hard to the net and wasnt scared to keep going hard as a power forward. Nash gets knocked off the puck left and right and his skating ability is extremely unimpressive. Again from a numbers perspective you cannot justify a 7.8 hit.

No, he's not the same player. He's worse. When we first got him every time he touched the puck he gave us a sense of excitement with the way he played. Now it's gone.

Gutted the team by trading a guy with a 4.2 mil cap hit who scored 10 goals the year before. Would have loved to see your posts when Dubi had what 1 goal in 40 games?
The fact you would even think about allocating almost 4% of the cap for the next 8 years! to get rid of your leading goal scorer the past 2 seasons is so beyond insanity.
I think people were expecting 60 goals.
Rick Nash has slightly scored more goals per game for the Rangers than the Blue Jackets and absolutely has become a more well rounded player as well.
Rick Nash is overpaid and no one will debate that but this hate is hilarious.

It's stupid to think about releasing Nash. He's still a very good player with a horrible salary cap #. He's still more valuable than having dead cap money and trying to find a replacement with the left over money.
You either trade him or keep him. The latter is the likely scenario because if the NMC.
The only deal I can see happen is a high salary for high salary type of trade. We need a #1 center with Stepan and Brassard being 2 & 3. That deal is something like Spezza for Nash deal.

It's not hate. It's criticism. You should really learn the difference.
If Nash was scoring at a rate that was anywhere in the same stratosphere as his regular season numbers, most would just chalk it up to the stiffer competition and tighter checking of the playoffs. His numbers have fallen off a cliff in the playoffs. It's not a slump. He just doesn't have the will to fight through determined opponents.
Everyone else is in the playoffs, while Rick Nash is still in the regular season. Maybe he just doesn't have another gear. Who knows at this point.

How is his playoff scoring when it really matters? I'm having trouble since I'm just a box-scorer.
4 goals in 35 playoff games with the Rangers, including significant time on 139 power plays (1 goal). He's healthy. He's talented. What else are we supposed to pin it on?

Minus the skill. He's totally lost his offensive ability, playing like a 3rd 4th liner now.
He is slumping in scoring which if you read earlier posts, similar to stretches Toews and Gabby has had in the playoffs. Do you think he honestly cares if he is scoring? He said he wants to win and guess what, he wasn't scoring and we were winning.
If it was not for Nash, the Rangers wouldn't be even playing "when it matters"
We should absolutely get rid of Nash. Consistent 30+ goal scorers are very replaceable.
Lets all run him out of town like Gabby and then wish he was back on the team.
