id also like to point out that on the rangers setup, they almost always have Chris Kreider play right in the slot.

thats the highest scoring area. theres a reason you dont stick nash in there as well. hes better off on the side board, which is where he plays. its tough, borderline impossible to score from that position, which is why youre counting on Kreider doing a bit more scoring than he has. Nash has alwasy been a breakaway kinda scorer...next to zero chances ont he breakaway in the playoffs...teams just dont give up those kinds of chances.

I think Nash needs to go back in on the PP.

To me id split the units.

Unit 1.

Pouliots - Brassard - MZA
MCD - Richards

Unit 2

Kreider - Stepan - Nash
MCD - MSL

I'm not 100% positive but i feel like MSL has played the point on the PP before...i think he'd be lethal there.

I hope you brought your books because Inferno just took you to school.

Less than a point every other game. 3 goals in 22 playoff games this year. I'm not sure about the quality of this education.

Rick Nash is NOT playing like the elite $7.8 million dollar player he is supposed to be. He is not supposed to be Brian Boyle who has just three less points this playoff season.

If Rick Nash is on the Rangers next year I won't even watch their games unless I want to see the opponent. I don't care how well he has done away from the puck. He is soft on the puck and he doesn't produce. If Nash was almost any other 5M+ winger the Rangers are probably 1-1 in this series and doing better. You can't have 8M sitting on the bench every PP, averaging less than 15 minutes per game, scoring 3 goals in 23 playoff games and averaging less than .5 points per game. You just can't. You can't pay Nash 8M to be a poor man's Dominic Moore. I don't care if he penalty kills. I don't care if hustles defensively. The fact that this team is IN the SCF (and went to OT in each of the first two games) is amazing considering they have virtually done it WITHOUT Nash. He has to go. A player who makes less than 2M could provide everything Nash has provided. It's amazing the Rangers have gotten this far with basically 6M of wasted salary in Nash (not to mention 3.5M in Richards). Something has bugged me about this team since Nash arrived. Even in spite of the success this year, I've had a hard time cheering for them and it's largely because of how much I dislike Nash. I can't stand seeing this guy on the ice anymore.

Without Nash the Rangers likely don't even make the playoffs so please don't let the door hit you on the way out. Another great " Rangers fan"

I don't care. I don't even know if I am a Rangers fan at this point. I watched every other series more intently until we got down to the ECF. I'm just a hockey fan at this point. I have been a Rangers fan my entire life, but in spite of their success this year I've never liked the actual team on the ice less. And Rick Nash is probably my least favorite player in the entire NHL at this point. I wish they had never acquired him. I can't stand him.

Someone said it perfect in the GDT, $7.8M for a glorified 3rd liner who we play on the PK. He is a passenger. Has been the entire post season.

Unfortunately there comes a point where "doing everything else right" just isn't good enough. Certainly not for a guy who carries the 11th highest cap hit in the NHL.

Nash has been disapointing in the playoffs overall, but I thought he was one of their better players today. Not the reason they lost even if he isn't worth the 8m.

Bad time to sell also....selling low. Better to wait for a better opportunity mid season IMO.

That is such a cop out. He is 100% one of the reasons we lost. If he scores a goal or two, it's a completely different game. Momentum shifts. Now, it's not exclusively his responsibility to score but he is the so called super star on this team and he isn't doing his job. Plain and simple.

Like numerous people have said, he is doing a lot of things right but there comes a time where that's not enough (aka the ECF and the SCF) for someone who is making ~8M a year. We can get that production out of 4th line players for 1/4th of the cost. Between him and Richards they make up 22% of our cap and they have 0 points combined and are -6 in 3 SCF games. That's an absolute fail by Nash and nearly impossible to win when they players you pay the most (who are expected to perform the best) don't contribute.

Sure, but you can blame a lot of players besides nash.

Agree that he isn't living up to his contract, but unfortunately the contract doesn't magically make him play better. Just makes it a bad contract :(

I can't wrap my head around cjcny and inferno. Why are you guys so defensive about Nash
..do you have his jersey and want to defend paying $200 for a useless bum? Does he bring back nostalgia for you guys? Seriously, I know everyone has an opinion, but if you can't see Nash being baggage right now, I don't know if you are in touch with reality.

He doesn't produce, theres non point in having him. Skating doesn't win games... Scoring goals does and there are 9 players expected to do a majority of scoring..especially him and Richards for the prices paid for them. They are nothing but empty promises as seen by tonights shutout.

What? Nash is the man! It's not like we needed a timely goal from our highest paid offensive weapon at all this postseason

Done defending him.

Nobody needs to defend him. That though don't warrent endless childish knee-jerk reactions about how he is one of the worst players in the league etc.

Everyone has all year been able to see that our top line is insufficient offensively. All 5 players of that unit left the ice without a point again tonight, for the 4th straight game. Its been shut down completely I don't know how many games this post-season. Staal-Stralsy never creates anything. During the regular season, this line was many times one of our worst lines, only creating chances after misstakes by the other team or after one-man shows by Nash. During the POs, that line has been great in terms of winning momentum etc., but its still shut down.

Nash isn't able to put on a one-man show and is caught in a bad slump. Stepan never breaks the pattern in any way. Kreids is kept on the outside. Staal-Stralsy only plays defense. Blair Betts level on their offensive game lately (ok Dom Moore level to put it kindly)...

Some kids will be jump of a cliff ready when they see "excuses" in this thread, but things are what they are. You can't point at a yellow car and claim that its red.

If you are not sure you are even a Rangers fan after this playoff run than there is a good chance you are not.
