One thing I've noticed: the Hurricanes are so aggressive in their transition that turnovers in the neutral zone lead to easy zone entries or even odd man rushes against. The Canes couldn't make a clean zone entry to save their life, while Detroit had it easy the entire night. This has been a persistent problem going back to playoffs 2019, when Washington eviscerated them in transition.

I think the team has gotten lazy. They realized at some point they can slack off for a period or two then turn it on in the 3rd and take it to OT and win.

This isn't the Cardiac Canes that wore teams down with their forecheck and caved them in during the 3rd period. This team literally takes a period or two off then says, hey maybe we should play hockey now and try to win this game.

These guys are professional athletes who are aware of the nature of the business. They understand players get traded. I seriously doubt the *whole* team was sulking because Fleury got traded, regardless of how well liked he was.

It's much more likely that they are just complacent playing one of the worst teams in th the league, late in the season, on a Monday night.

They more or less coasted on Saturday and still made it to the shootout. If Skjei didn't take that delay of game penalty we may have very well still taken it to OT with a better outcome than Saturday.

Rod showed the Wings no respect in the the two post game pressers this past week, and it's clear the whole team did as well given their effort.

If the boys don't show up for the Preds, then let's start to panic.

So in the shadow of recent events, how many points do we expect out of the next 6 games?

I will be optimistic and say 8
