These Raptors threads have never been as popular

Anyways, trading a liability like DeRozan is already a win but being able to get a top 5 player (even for only 1 year) is insane

Just hope we hear from Kawhi soon

If he was that dead set on staying in Toronto he should have negotiated a no trade

that's how i see it.

it's not cold, it's not whatever DeMar said.
I mean it's dumb of Masai to promise something like that because situations like this happen.

the less Kawhi talks, the happier i am. I dont care about what these guys think, I just want them to play basketball. Sounds rude but it is what it is.

Hopefully we can ditch the playoff choker label. Although Demar atleast showed up a bit this year. Lowry on the other hand....

ya Lowry no showed shooting 50% in the playoffs. guys a bum.

the stats, just to save anymore hot takes.

What? Lowry was the one who showed up. Did you even watch the playoffs?
Wdym. Lowry was not great in the playoffs. Both the Toronto teams have one thing in common-shitting the bed in the playoffs lol.

Subtle shot at the Leafs. Im on Leafs boards, dont crucify me pls. And ik, my team didnt even make the playoffs. Friendly jab dkm.

I don't have a problem with moving guys. But I do think it's stupid to tell someone they aren't going and then turn around and move them. Why do that? Why make any assurances? At best nothing happens and you never needed to do it. At worst you end up lying to the person and give your organization a public black eye. Not the worst thing in the world. But I wouldn't go and seek out the trouble.

Just kind of hilarious and impressive that the Raptors managed to piss off both the player coming to them and the player leaving at the same time.

Here's another friendly jab: stick to hockey.

Raptors are going for a rebuild.

Wonder what they can get for Kawhi...and would he be traded in the offseason itself or at the deadline? There is no chance he's going to re-sign.

Reasons he could change his mind:

  • Kawhi can be the Lebron James of the Eastern Conference
  • Kawhi doesn't seem to exactly like U.S media. He seems to have a unique "don't talk to me" personality
  • Toronto is a preferred destination for billionaires. Drake just built a mansion here.
  • Once you move somewhere and get comfortable; you don't really want to move again.
  • People are often reciprocal by nature. If someone does something for you; you recepcriate.
  • Toronto can actually be a contender out of the east.
  • Toronto has assets, flexibility to trade for another super player.
  • Derozan, Buerhle, Donaldson, Kessel are U.S athletes who have expressed desire to stay here long term

Creating a safe, winning, comfortable environment can go a long way. The Lakers are playing with fire.

DeRozan vs Cleveland
16.7 PPG
4.0 RPG
2.7 APG
0.439 FG%
0.00 3PT% (9 Attempts)
-74 +/-

Lowry vs Cleveland
17.7 PPG
3.5 RPG
8.7 APG
0.571 FG%
0.458 3PT% (24 Attempts)
-47 +/-

Lowry had a good playoffs. Against Cleveland, he had a tremendous first three games and a rough game 4 (frankly everyone had a rough game 4).

I don't really know how people can criticize Lowry...he almost single handedly won us two games while DeRozan got stapled to the bench.

If he was that dead set on staying in Toronto he should have negotiated a no trade

He couldn't because of the rules in the CBA. If his prior deal was a year longer then he could have but even then, NBA teams don't give them out to anybody basically

The choice for head coach was very poor then. I fear that Kawahi and Lowry won't listen to Nurse who is pretty much a nobody to them. Especially to Kawhi.

I get the whole it's a business thing but there should never ever be a word spoken about VC or Bosh etc.. I agree but its worth being said it's a 2-way street and this city has made a living off bashing players for exercising their side of that deal

I feel like everyone forgets that if the lowry trade to the knicks had happened then demar was going to request to be traded, plus this gets him closer to his sick dad doesn't it. Its bittersweet but its good for him too
