So Gallant is not big on analytics. Drury wants to implement more analytics into the operation.

Makes total sense.

Honestly, that could be something this organization needs. This franchise has pretty much been a country club for years now. We need a little bite to us. Gallant's definitely in my want category

In what way has it been a country club?

One thing is a given watching this Ranger club for years now.....and that is if Gallant is only here for two years and that is what he will instill in this young roster is something that will not hurt us moving forward as all you need to do is look at the success of the Knights while he was there and after and look how Huberdeau/Barkov/and the other kids have turned out...SOLID NHL stars . Gerard Gallant will not hurt us .

Huberdeau and Barkov would have ended up stars no matter who coached them.

Hopefully our players aren't too used to the country club vibe cause Gallant looks like a dude who can make you cry (or shit your pants) just by glaring at you

**I saw this posted on other forums - apologies as I posted this before visiting the other forums. I don't want to step on anyone's posts.

If you guys listen to Real Kyper podcast, go to about 11:05 in (spoiler: Gallant and analytics from Doug MacLean)

so maclean, his gm in columbus, and tallon, his gm in florida, both speak highly of him....sounds like a complete clown show in florida at the time with the owner sticking his nose in. not very different than what we just saw here...doesn't speak to what happened in vegas and 3 times its atleast partially his fault but still interesting...

also interesting comments before that about torts...maclean things it would be a terrible idea

I am in the pro Gallant camp. Though he’s not the only candidate I think would be a good Head Coach for the Rangers.
My only concern is Steve Yzerman. I didn’t like him when he played (always felt he was a sneaky player and not in the good way). Disliked him even more as a G.M.
My worry is Yzerman’s relationship with Gallant. Are they close? Do they speak often on the phone? Would Yzerman exploit that relationship to benefit the Wings?
This is all speculation on my part. For all we know that might not even like each other. Though I would hope that Chris Drury investigates that relationship with him and all the G.M. that Gallant has worked for.

I think Gallant got fired because Vegas wanted DeBoer, the team was playing mediocre at the time (thanks to very bad goaltending), and being Vegas, they just jumped onto their prized market item. They do this with players all the time. It's not so much that the one they had is bad, just that they want the other more even if it's only the slightest improvement.

Stevie Y has one helluva uphill climb to make in Detroit. The only thing which concerns me is if he fleeces Drury for Larkin. That's it, not much other damage Stevie Y can do to us. I wouldn't worry at all.

Just out of total curiosity, had any team ever not given permission for another team to interview a coach that was under contract but not actively working for them?

Doubtful. If he signs with NYR Vegas will be off the hook for the $$$ they owe him after he signs here, right? If so they’re probably stoked about it.
