Rename the Selke.....the Bergeron

No Nhl players should have a trophy named after them before Gretzky, Lemieux, Orr, or Howe, gets one named after them

I get why they renamed the Pearson the Ted Lindsay Award, insofar as he caught hell for helping establish the organization that hands out the award. Not sure the same sort of case could be made for the Bergeron.

You might not like how it sounds...but I don't care. As a Habs fan, I was so easy to dislike the Bruins. But impossible to not realize that Patrice Bergeron will always be seen as one of the best 2-way player to have ever played the game.

It,s time to move on from the trophy names that lost their meaning and give those trophies something more from this era. Yeah, I would also change every other trophy not named the Stanley Cup. But with what happened yesterday with the Bruins, I thought it was appropriate to talk about this trophy and the guy that most likely has played his final game.

If not, well wait till he retires....but acknowledge the greatness of that player.
Nope. Why tarnish the great tradition of a trophy by renaming it. One of things that makes the NHL great is the time honoured traditions.
What's next, naming the Stanley Cup after the Montreal Canadiens because they've won the most championships?
This is the epitome of looking for a solution to a problem that doesn't exist.

Vezina-change it to Hasek Trophy
Norris-Change it to Bobby Orr trophy
Hart-Change it to Gretzky trophy

That may not happen.

Won't be long though before we hear: "X team has won the Mastercard Stanley cup".

Uh yeah, nah.

Art Ross = Gretzky
Rocket = Ovechkin
Hart = Gretzky or Howe
Pearson = Gretzky or Lemieux

I'm counting like zero Canadiens here among the major awards.
let's rename the Rocket "The Ovechkin" too
I mean, Washington can donate there own goal scoring trophy if they’d like and call it the ovy. Unfortunately the Habs donated the Richard trophy so I’m thinking the name stays.

Retiring with the record number of Selkes is good enough. There is no need to rename any of the trophies, and I cannot see a new trophy coming into existence that Bergeron would be the ideal name for.

If Frank J Selke was a piece of shit human being, then yeah..

Also, I'd dare to go away from trophies named after North Americans and call it the Pavel Datsyuk Selke trophy sponsored by Bet99

Why not rename the Bruins the Bergerons? Everyone hates the Bruins, but everyone seem to love Bergeron. Its a PR coup, what better way to immortalize a great player when retiring his jersey is not enough? They get to keep the B logo too on top of it. Wow! what a great idea renaming old stuff!

I’ll agree to this under the condition that Mark Messier’s stupid award is correctly renamed “The Mark Messier ego boosting trinket that nobody cares about.”
I'm baffled as to why Messier is even seen as the best leader. Gretzky was the captain for four of their 5 Cups.
