How does a team benefit from having Rempe play for them? Struggling to see any positives.
Because the league rewards you for injuring people

Whatever…Crappy league. They’re so worried about a rookie who hits a little too hard because they don’t want anyone tough in the league and not concerned about why their product is so mediocre and is on the decline year after year. What a sad state of affairs the NHL is
Indeed a crappy league if no-skill bums like Rempe can get inCrappy league. That has to be a record and 8 games for that seems harsh given what others get away with around the league .The dops is as consistent as the refs aka badly inconsistentFourth ejection in 22 games
They actually got it right here. That has to be a record and 8 games for that seems harsh given what others get away with around the league .The dops is as consistent as the refs aka badly inconsistent
The guy is literally a no-talent goon with no redeeming value as a hockey player whatsoever. Imagine if this guy had connected harder and ended the career of one of the best players in the league? He belongs in the LNAH.8 games seems acceptable.
Also lol at people complaining about ”softness”. I enjoy physicality too, but I also don’t want idiots like Rempe ending the career of players like McDavid or MacKinnon by pulling these garbage moves.
The 8 games doesn’t seem harsh it’s hopefully just the NHL realizing how the game is supposed to be played; and slapping the idiots. That has to be a record and 8 games for that seems harsh given what others get away with around the league .The dops is as consistent as the refs aka badly inconsistent
If he were just trolling in the media by talking shit, I'd be with you. However, he's doing very stupid things that could seriously injure people. That's what he does to elicit reactions. To say "chef's kiss" about that is f***ing abhorrent.Don't worry about me. You just stick to having the day you deserve.
Watched the video, and anywhere between 5 and 10 games would have been appropriate. This is a borderline NHL player who won't change. Either the Rangers will get rid of him or he'll DOPS his way out of the league.
The reactions he elicits, especially from rival fans, despite being a completely ineffective player on the ice? Chef's kiss.
Well, moving attention away from team-performance to something else is a commonly used tactic, so there is that. It's similar to politics in a way. If you want to push something through parliament that would have everyone outraged if they knew about it, conjure up some sort of scandal that draws everyone's attention. That way no one will care about what happens in the background.I really want to know what Laviolette's train of thought was with this:
"Geez we really suck lately. We can't score, we can't play D and our goalie is struggling with the basic task of stopping pucks. I have an idea! Let's put in a guy who can't do a single thing at the NHL level other than possibly end careers. There's no way we can sink any lower. No way."
As someone who thinks the kid’s overwhelmingly crappy at everything, most of his popularity came rom him dropping the gloves in almost all of his first several games. For being such a "tough player" isn't it interesting how Rempe only seems to hunt smaller skill players instead of challenging the actual tough guys of the league?
As for his hockey playing ability, when a guy has twice as many match penalties as he has points, I'd say that he's not an NHL calibre player. But he is an active danger to the truly NHL-calibre players.
Should have been a lifetime ban.Ok but 8 games considering heskienin skate away after the fact?
