Last season he ranked 87th percentile for top speed in the NHL. He also routinely was clocked at having the fastest top speed in each game at MSG

He was a top 6 player on Hartford, also plays on the powerplay and penalty kill. He led the entire team in even strength goals last season as a 21 year old at the time of his NHL callup in February.

He drew penalties on 3 consecutive shifts in the 2nd period of last game vs Dallas before that hit and had 2 awesome scoring chances including a breakaway where he bulldozed his way through and blew by everyone to the net. This team is very different with him in the lineup vs without him, something like 26-5 with him since his call up and below .500 without him. He has some very unique attributes and I hope he can learn to control his freakish sized frame better so he can reach that potential.
He doesn't have the brain to accomplish this. I'm not even talking about hockey IQ, his basic understanding of how the world works is clearly Forrest Gump level.

Honestly, the League might need to tell the Rangers organization next time Rempe receives supplemental discipline, the organization will be fined or forfeit a pick too.
League office: on second thought, next time Ottawa has to forfeit a pick instead

Get this POS out of the league, we want to watch players with talent. Not players with rocks for brains who try to end careers.
Matt Cooke lasted quite a while as a Penguins player with rocks for brains. He was even given leeway for trying to cut off EK65’s foot with his skate.

8 games is very fair, and hopefully he got the “if you keep doing this you’re getting a 20-40 game suspension next” talk. Staring at the numbers the entire time and leaves the feet to deliver an elbow while boarding… this is the least justifiable illegal hit I’ve seen in a while. No bang-bang nature, no oh I didn’t expect him to go that way. Nothing but pure intent to injure.

explanation pretty much said he had a country mile of ice while facing Heiskanen's numbers and he still pursued the hit.

It's not like heiskanen turned last minute
or
he was engaged with another player then went for the hit

Even dumb people understand losing $80K, perhaps that is the motivation for him to change. Not so much how hitting fellow players dirty is wrong, just money lost.

That would run afoul of the CBA.
Really, that's up to the DoPS.

The CBA only irons how hearings are done and what the ceiling of discipline is for each type of hearing.
If the DoPS wants to start upping all suspensions though, they can.

How they choose to make that transition though would dictate how messy it is. If they give the next guy with "1 game suspension" (based on set precedent) 8 games, they would definitely appeal all the way up to arbitration and would likely win.

If they slowly increase the average up a game or two for the next few years, resetting precedent, it'd be doable. Or if they get owners and NHLPA on board ahead of time, they could do a faster transition.

8 games is light. Should have been 20. This guy does nothing on the ice except dirty hits. His whole purpose out there is to injure.

Can you imagine if he did this to McDavid. Not that that would be the first time the incompetent NHL let a superstar have his career compromised.

Joke league. Joke suspension. Joke player.

I'm sorry but that isn't ANY DIFFERENT to this hit which got NOTHING.

- elbow
- left feet
- took more than 4 strides
- player was unsuspecting and went head first into the boards.

Oh right...jersey is green this time! Got it!

That’s a trash hit too and should have been a penalty at the very least for charging.

The homer MSG announcer knows it too. “Did he jump off his feet?” But by then he was already in circle jerk mode over the “big hit” and the “go train” he couldn’t adjust his narrative to call it what it was. A dirty hit by a dumb player.

He had 12 points in 43 AHL games last year.

Playing in the top 6 doesnt mean you are a top 6 player.

In this case it just means the coach is an idiot.

If the kid had 100gms in the League he'd have a longer leash and his fanboys would have at least a molehill to stand on

but 22gms and a rap sheet already a mile long and Repeat Offender status = Rempemania ain't running wild no mo'
