Reimer played grt last yr
but
he has a history of being concused
his rebound control is not good and his handling of the puck

For the reasons about we went out and got Bernier ( the team plays better with him in the net from what I have seen )

he is being paid alot of money to shut his mouth during a playoff push
I do feel for the guy but just play and you will have your day

We need a backup next yr that will compliment Bernier

Is anyone really surprised by this? Did anybody really think Reimer and Bernier would be a tandem for years? No, we knew that by getting Bernier we were going to have them battle it out for the #1 job this season, and Bernier did just that. I fully expected one of them to be traded this next offseason and it looks like it's going to be Reimer, unfortunately/fortunately for him.

Hey look, a Toronto media member speculates on something and Toronto fans jump as if the words came from the player themselves.

Funny how the media has created yet another crisis. Guess the losing streak wasn't enough?

How can you request a trade after the deadline?

Sounds fishy....definitely seems like something he'd ask for when the season ended not right now. *shrugs*

The trade deadline doesnt stop any trades. What it does is prevents the players moved from playing in the playoffs. Its not uncommon for teams well out of it to make trades.

I was originally hoping he would have a somewhat strong season and we could trade him for a 1st or 2nd. We'll be lucky to get a 3rd for him at this point.

Good, hopefully he forces Nonis to do something. He might sit on his ass otherwise like this deadline. Get a second rounder or more and he's gone.

No need for him to request a trade. Nonis already has it in his plans to send him to the moon for some magic moon dust in return.

Come on, how do you let the first shot of the game go in like that as an NHL goaltender?

Nonis should be fired for NOT getting rid of Franson and Reimer at the deadline.

Would we have done any worse with someone else in net during this injury to Bernier? Come on.

Well this is disappointing, would of liked to see us re-sign him. We need two quality goalies. Hope this isn't true.

What's better for the team, to have a disgruntled goalie who believes he should be a starter and is pretty much hated by his coach, or just getting rid of this issue and setting him off to a fresh start and getting another back-up? I like Reimer, but it seems to me things are getting stale with him. He wants to be a starter and there is no way he's ever going to get that chance here. Time to move him and get what we can and both parties move on respectively.

I think the whole sitation is way overblown.

Carlyle has shown at least some confidence in Reimer by starting him the last 4 games, even on a back to back. It's not like he's benching him over here.

What's he supposed to do, praise Reimers recent play when it hasn't been praise-worthy?

Getting another D-man could've helped, not sure how you can deny that.

It has more to do with Reimer's future than anything. If you're 25 years old and a back-up to another 25 year-old wouldn't you feel kind of stuck? Reimer has said repeatedly he believes he can be a starter. This isn't surprising, eventually this issue was going to come up. Might as well deal him in the summer. Why in the world would Reimer re-sign here for another year or two knowing full well Bernier is the guy. Move him to Calgary, Islanders and get him to a place where he has a legit shot to be a starter. Heck, move him back home to Winnipeg, they could use a goalie.

The situation with Carlyle and Reimer is over-blown, but the issue of Reimer wanting to be a starter isn't overblown. Everybody's known for over a year now that this was going to come to the forefront eventually.

I think the media is making this bigger than it is, and so are the fence-sitters.

Fence sitters are those who say Reimer is so great when he has a good game, and when he has a bad game, he is the next Toskala and so terrible. Then there are the Reimer sucks no matter how bad the team in front of him plays (but these were the people praising him last year) - he could make 80 saves in a game and they team lose 3-2, but it would be Reimer's fault.

The team as a whole has been terrible lately - lack of intensity.

I don't blame him for wanting out of Toronto (if he even truly does).

Coach isn't helping much either - players look disinterested for too long of a stretch in the last few games.

This team is nowhere near as hard to play against as last year - where is this tough Leaf team????

Any goalie that needs to put every puck he catches on the top of the net in warmup to build confidence is bad. Sorry not sorry.

Pretty much. You could throw a pylon in front of the net on the PK (or any defensive situation) and it'd do more then Franson.

Then Reimer's worse with his glove then JP Arencibia, which is something that is hard to accomplish.

I've been saying since they acquired Bernier that Reimer will force their hand through is contract demands.

Ask for starters money, it will be with the Leafs or somewhere else but no way is he accepting anything that allows them to maintain this two goalie system for another year.

He's proven he can be a starter, regular season and playoffs and his agent will make sure he is again.

How he compares to the available UFAs will definitely be a factor. I think Miller resigns but if Hiller and Halak are available then Reimer's value takes a hit.

Let's not forget that our current starter pulled the same stunt in Los Angelas.

He is good enough to be a 1B starter, he's not going to get the chance here where Bernier who is clearly the better goalie is ahead of him. Then throw the obvious head clashing going on between him and Randy, I cannot say I blame Reimer for asking for a trade.

Reimer is going to be traded if he asks for a trade or not. His job with the Leafs was over with the second Bernier was acquired.

Can't say I blame him for wanting a chance somewhere else. It is clear that Bernier is now the # 1 guy and Reimer wants a chance to be that guy somewhere else.
