So, Boucher was seemingly let off the hook back in 2011. Legally speaking, what has prompted this current action?

There were no legal proceedings in 2011. Boucher wasn't "let off the hook", legally speaking, back in 2011. Although it certainly looks like he was let off the hook by USA Hockey.

Community service and done would be a little BS. Yes, there are certain circumstances to be taken into account but...damn, people need to have consequences. I do feel like this is more of a national trend - prosecutors not prosecuting or everything be reduced in favor of a guilty plea.

It just never seems like "enough". Like, what do you (the proverbial "you") think the punishment should be? I mean, are some looking for crucifixion here?

As much as people may wanna apologize for his age. At 17, even if your hormones are raging, and you make a misstep, you don't blackmail and do it again. At 17, you know you don't want to be a victim of sexual blackmail. It isn't rocket science to see this dude is absolute trash.

No. You can go read the other thread. No one made excuses for what he did nor did anyone "defend" him, and I think both threads you will find a unanimous declaration that this was a heinous crime that is absolutely 100% unacceptable.
Fair enough. Read the other one but you never know after the fact if a mod cleaned it up.

How's the management Group at US hockey on that time?

Is there gonna be some falling heads?

Scott Monaghan at eliteprospects.com

Monaghan was the GM and Director of Hockey operations on that time - and still is.

Ron Rolston was the head coach on that season. and Won U18 gold after Boucher's incident - with Boucher on the team. He was the team best Goal-scorer.

There’s an element of manipulation and cruelty here that doesn’t seem connected to hormones or age/experience. It’s not like it was about simple impulsiveness or poor judgment. This was more in the realm of long term calculated cruelty.

This is the sort of stuff you’d associate with someone who could be formally diagnosed as a sociopath.

I would like to see somebody dig in a bit more on Lamorielo’s comments. He unequivocally denied knowing about this. If so, fine. However, if the timeline is correct in terms of when he was charged and when he signed the ELC the something seems odd. Not saying it is or it isn’t, just that it would important to clear up ambiguity.

Enablers of people who engage in sexual assault of anyone, let alone a minor, should face consequences.

This is referring to another prospect the Devil's drafted around tye same time, Ben Johnson, who also raped someone (or rather, two people) not Reid Boucher

I feel empathy for both sides. I hate seeing lives ruined. How has his behavior been in the 10 years? What were his accomplishments? I hate saying "off with his head" before knowing everything.

Not trying to downplay what the victim went through by any means, but it seems to me that the cover-up by USA Hockey is the bigger story here.

This thread will be closed when the troglodytes start making excuses for him, just like in the thread yesterday. Its embarrassing we can't even reach a consensus on something like this...
I remember people defending those acts/people in 2015/2016 in the off topic section. Reported MULTIPLE accounts on here and nobody did anything. Yeah, they definitely exist and they roam these boards. And it's some of the most prominent names on here. Quite disturbing.
