It's even more impressive he accomplished that in a season where the PK was the worst it has been in years (ranked 15th in the league) and the team wasn't as stingy to play against as they were last season.
 
Lundqvist, again. Hes so good, so often, that a lot of folks are almost desensitized to his annually fantastic performances.

Stepan was pretty close. But no cigar.

Yep. I've made up my mind. Hank is, once again, the MVP. I think that we're just so used to how good he is that we don't realize it sometimes.
 
A clear cut number 1 goalie is always the team's MVP. So it's sort of meaningless to constantly single the guy out as MVP.
 
Stepan is getting votes because it's a feel good story to see him emerge as the top center on the team.

Even with Stepan's performance, the Rangers would have missed the playoff by a wide margin without Lundqvist. Without Stepan, I still think they're a bubble team flirting with the playoffs.

For me, it's Lundqvist with Stepan as a second, and Nash as a very distant third.
 
Stepan gets an honorable mention, but I have to give it to Hank. He carried us when we weren't scoring.

Also, lets face it.. If he Hank goes down injured we're royally F:Ed.Stepan wouldn't be AS missed, hence: Hank is our MVP.
 
I voted Stepan because our Offense was abysmal before he started making strides...

But Hank is always there... The only goalies i see perform on his level is Lehtonen and Bobrovski... All Vezina Contenders, of course (Maybe not Lehtonen as of late)
 
If you count the entire roster, Henrik Lundqvist. If you count only the skaters, Derek Stepan (he was +25 this season, and over his ELC, these are his stats: 212 NHL games (played every game) 56 goals, 84 assists, 272 hits, +47). About the only facet of his game that needs work is faceoffs.
 
three most valuable players were Step, McD and Hank. I give the nod to Step. Any line he centered produced (after a slow start). And since we as a team had a problem scoring goals, Step's contributions are probably the most valuable. McD is severely underappreciated on this board; so much talk of him regressing. Not true. And Hank is Hank.

He had a down year. There were points where he looked downright terrible, giving the puck away, causing turn overs, not playing position, etc.

He's probably our most talented defense man, and he's young and has a promising future, but that doesn't mean he was our best defense man.

Before Staal got hurt he was far and away our best defense man, and it honestly wasn't close. Staal was playing several levels higher than McDonagh.

Both McDonagh and Girardi had off years, and honestly, neither of them looked like a first pairing defense man. There were parts where McDonagh was great, but when he was bad... wow, he was bad.
