Stepan. He has blossomed in to a first line center during this shortened season. Hopefully he can sustain this high caliber of play over the course of the playoffs and an 82 game season next year. Regardless, without his contributions the Rangers would be playing golf right now.
 
On a team that consists - or at least consisted - of Nash, Richards, Gaborik, you can even throw in Cally, who here honestly thought Stepan would walk away with the most points?

Sure, Nash missed 4 games, but those could have been games where he didn't notch a point or - more than likely - games where Stepan could have gotten a few more points with him as well.

Hank is a generational talent for sure. You could say he has been our MVP every year since he entered the league sans the Jagrfest after the lockout. I picked Steps because he has been a sparkplug for this team all season. Richards played like garbage and he stepped up and took the bull by the horns.

I think they would likely be playing golf without Lundqvist, as well.

People take him for granted at this point. And I think some want to see a different name for MVP, which has no bearing on whether or not Lundqvist is deserving of the award.

A forward would have to put up a Crosby or Stamkos type performance to take the MVP away from Hank. Lundqvist really bails this team out in a way that no other player can, and is clearly the most important player on this team year in and year out.

I'm kind of a Lundy homer, defender, but this season, Lundy wasn't as brilliant compared to last season.

Though, there were games where he only showed up, so there's that.

Absolutely. Maybe I am just spoiled by watching the best goalie in the world year in and year out. It is expected of Lundqvist to be among the best in the league, Stepan was a second liner who got an opportunity and ran with it. If he didn't start out so poorly he would have been over a ppg, and his surge in play coincided with the Rangers surge in play.

Sure they would not have gotten in to the dance without Lundqvist, but they certainly would have been on the outside looking in if it wasn't for Steps. I'd say that both are viable options for team mvp, but I chose Stepan because when he is on top of his game, the Rangers are on top of their game.
 
I think Torts said it all in his press conference last night when he said Stepan is our most important player in ALL situations! That to me says it all!!
 
Henrik won for the 7th straight year, bettering his record.

Unless we get another Jagr performance, it will be hard to break his streak,considering not even Gaborik's 42 goal 86 point season beat out Henrik in an average year for him.
 
went with Stepan....Henrik is close, but I just think w/o stepan this team doesn't sniff the playoffs...same with Henrik. but Stepans was unexpected...henrik isn.t give it to someone new.

I don't disagree with the selection at all; in fact, I think it was close between Hank and Step.

But I disagree with the logic in bold.
 
Gaborik put up a much more impressive performance his first season here with lesser players. I always knew Gabby was the better offensive player/scorer between them. Nash was just the shiny new toy and it takes a while for the effect to wear off.

For team MVP, I'm going with the man, the legend, Henrik Lundqvist.
 
Lundqvist is tied for the league lead in wins despite playing for a team that barely squeaked into the playoffs and would've been eliminated by late February if not for him. His 2.05 GAA and .926 SV% were both second-best of his career after last year's Vezina performance. Considering that this year's team was worse than last year, the numbers might be even more impressive. Lundqvist is the MVP.

Stepan is easily the team's best surprise and most improved player, but he's not the MVP. He's the first runner up, and Nash is the second.
