The difference was the 3rd goal. even if you say that's the only one he should have had, that's the one that matters, that's the one that CAN'T go in, that is the reason why my thread needing to address their goaltending exists.
That is the reason that I am correct. That 3rd goal tonight happens to Saros once a month, Markstrom, maybe 2 or 3 times a month because Markstrom most of the time isn't quite the goalie Saros is, It's close but I would choose Saros.
That type of goal happens to Samsonov and/or Jones, almost every night the difference is the Leafs have an elite offense so a lot of nights they get through it.
Take Thursday against Vegas as Exhibit A, 2 of the 3 goals Jones allowed were not NHL caliber goals but they got through it and their offense carried Martin Jones to win.
And that's the problem the offense carried Martin Jones to a win.
The offense shouldn't NEED to carry the goaltending to a win, once in awhile yes of course, those games are going to happen, in an 82 game season there is going to be a few where the offense need to carry the goaltending.
But it shouldn't need to be every f***ing night, and that's the problem It's EVERY f***ing night.
Our goaltending would have to steal about 15 games to even BEGIN to make up for it.
You know there is going to come a point where Boston is going to have to make a choice between Swayman and UllMark, and when that choice comes, possibly as soon as this off season you go get the other one.
Because even if you believe Woll is the guy, and unless he goes on a massive run and and wins the cup we aren't going to know if he's the guy because he's missed over half the season with injury.
But even if you believe Woll is the guy, and he might be you still go get whoever Boston ends up trading because they are where they are in the standings because right now they have 2 good goaltenders and you need that.
We MIGHT have IF he can stay healthy.
We sure as f*** don't have 2.
