I’m baffled by the reffing so far in the finals. The panthers have had multiple stupid penalty’s in this series that have been rightfully called and so have Vegas. My issue is the noticeable elbows/high hits that haven’t gotten any attention that during the regular season would probably have a thread on here. Plus the extra 10s they randomly are calling. Either call it soft or don’t make these calls at this stage

Someone please make these refs get interviewed by the media for their calls or have someone be accountable for swaying games at this stage of the playoffs.

It’s past ridiculous

I'm pretty sure the NHL did get together with refs to get tighter with the calls.
I think there was perhaps an aura following the Panthers through the first 3 rounds and it was made a point to put it under the microscope.
We're not losing because of the refs. But it is no doubt that they're a bit different this year it seems compared to other finals.

I can't remember when's the last time these many misconducts have been handed out in a single game that didn't include some major brawl or something.

I think the reffing has been poor but Florida hasn't been good enough 100% and you just tip your cap to vegas. Florida deserves to be down 2. I'm not going to be a Leafs/Bruins/Canes fan and use the refs as a cope for my team shitting the bed. Play better.

Like the refs have been bad both sides but are Vegas fans complaining?

Blaming the refs is loser talk.

Direct your anger and frustration at Paul Maurice who can’t keep his guys under control and act like sore losers who wanna goon it up.

Best is Vegas just laughing at them and ignoring

Barbashev dumping Duckair on his ass with a reverse hit and drawing a penalty and getting him kicked out of the game was perfect microcosm.

What difference do 10 minute misconducts make when the game is out of hand?
If it were an elimination game, then nothing. But the refs seem to want to control the chippiness and it only being game two, they were message sending. My theory at least.

Not saying I agree with any of it. It is confusing to everyone.

I don’t think the penalties are out of hand. When the game is close you are getting a normal officiated game. The only difference is they aren’t tolerating the extra stuff once a game kind of gets out of hand.

The trying to draw an extra penalty in a scrum stuff isn’t working for the Panthers. Especially at this point they kind of need stop with the silly stuff and focus on playing hockey.

It isn’t that confusing. Blowout playoff games routinely see 10 minute misconducts handed out for extra stuff. It is just the final and we have seen two blowouts (well one blowout and one game where Tkachuk lost his composure in a still relatively close game).

Because this hit isn’t called but tkachuk gets a penalty+10 for a solid hit on Eichel

Edit: you can even hear on that play lomberg gets sent to the box alone (for a stupid penalty) but still

You can all say only losers bitch and pull up the PPs the panthers had but they got them after the game was out of reach. Vegas has just as many iffy holds/cross checks. Just want a fairly called game

I should edit my original post but obviously I’m a Florida fan and we look like we shouldn’t be sharing the ice with this Vegas team. They clearly deserve to be up 2-0. Just questioning some of the non calls/calls they’ve been making in both sides
I'm not a Florida fan, the reffing has been terrible. Hill should have 2 or 3 minors, and the hitnon Gudas was a major.

If the players are going to run around intentionally stirring up shit, there’s no reason they shouldn’t get tossed for 10.
Yeah but when Vegas has instigated and taken liberties, there’s been nothing

Again it’s not affecting the outcome but if we’re purely talking about after the whistle/away from the play stuff, there definitely seems to be a much quicker trigger for the Panthers

Tkachuk got two misconducts tonight. One for a routine scrum that Vegas initiated and another for weakly knocking the stick out of a guy’s hands

Hill has gotten no punishment in two games for blocker punches and blatant slashes. Panthers had 3 separate PKs as a result of post-whistle activity in game 1

Both teams have had their moments but only one has been punished in any way

Started to watch the game. Obvious right from the get go the officiating favored Vegas.... click.
Stopped watching.
Looks like I didn't miss much.:(

The NHL's fingers are very deep into gambling these days.

You keep telling yourself that.
The refs told us all. It was an unsportsmanlike. It wasn't called for anything related to the hit. It was called for what happened after the hit. And Barbie got a 10 min misconduct for the same.

come on. Joke or not there isnt a less deserving fanbase.
Seattle?

Complaining that the referees are causing your team to lose is 100% loser talk and the Panthers only have themselves to blame.

That doesn’t mean as a fan it’s not incredibly frustrating to watch. Watching Hill punch and slash across multiple games and not get called while also having to watch your team lose is frustrating. Watching your best player get a misconduct for being jumped after a clean hit is frustrating. Watching your best player get another misconduct for literally tapping the opponent’s stick antagonistically is frustrating.

Everyone should be calling it like it is. Hill dominated. Vegas was superior. Icing on the cake, we had to witness an extremely poorly refereed game.
