Ref assist on leafs shorty.

...Carlo's penalty wasn't "phantom", it was a trip...that the trip before it wasn't called is a whole other kettle of fish...

The guy's tripped and knocks down the other player as a result of that trip. Let's only call the guy who's trip is a result of being tripped.

Love to see that the ref gives back a GWG against his will for that kind of officiating. Washington had a GWG off the ref earlier this year against the Leafs - but it wasn't important enough for this thread.

...he waved his stick at the puck while he was on the ice and tripped the Avs player...it was a trip...yes, the Blind Zebras missed the trip ON Carlo, but that doesn't mean that he didn't trip the Avs player while he was down...

Uh...how about blaming the dude in goal for not blocking the shot.

Came from outside the dotline....that's a bad goal.

I thought they tradied Fiourgiev
Torque in those hockey sticks they get some serious mustard on it now. That was ripped between shoulder and glove.Thats a tough grab for a goalie and I saw a few of those find net this year.

I actually feel bad for the ref here. It’s like a nightmare, feeling that slow stumble and thinking “just don’t let the puck hit me…” and feeling it bounce off (which hurts) and then jumping up to play it casual and then watching the Leafs pick it up and being like “no way… no way… he can’t… nooooooo” and realizing you just became a meme for the rest of your career.

The only thing he had going for him — thank god this wasn’t in another arena.

I can assure you that’s probably exactly how he felt based on my personal experience. Say what you want about officials influencing the game with the calls they make or don’t make, because that’s another point entirely, but we really, REALLY don’t want to influence the game by getting in the way of a player or the puck. I can tell you that there have been plenty of times where I’ve inadvertently run a pick on a player or the puck deflected off me even though I was trying to get out of the way of it. It’s bad enough if it causes a meaningful change in the game such as a change of possession. If it directly results in a scoring chance for one of the teams it’s even worse, and the entire time I was watching the play unfold I was thinking something along the lines of, “oh shit… oh shit… please don’t score, please don’t score…” then either breathing a sigh of relief when they didn’t, or wanting to bash my head against the glass when they did.

It's ok everybody loves the Leafs, so it's all good, we all had a good laugh and are happy for #CanadasTeam. #GoLeafsGo #KellyBleedsBlue

There needs to be a new rule implemented that I've talked about for a while way before this. As soon as the puck touches a ref I feel it should be called a dead play. This is literally unbelievable. Imagine if it was a Stanley cup final game 7 in OT and this was the final goal. There would be riots in the streets and depending on where a city would be burned to the ground.

The refs get in the way in a non physical way sometimes too (avs only goal), sometimes it works out even in the end

Ref clearly had money on the Leafs. Unfortunately, nothing will ever happen since refs have infinite job security and aren't even investigated. Also, calling them out just gets you fined.

Game winning goal too lol
Yeah not gonna lie I’d be salty if I was an Avs fan.

What are ya gonna do? The refs are considered part of the arena or whatever they say. The unfortunate part is the ref was trying to get out of the way and instead got exactly in the way. Interesting that this doesn't happen more often really.
