RedWings 2023 Development Camp

Our prospects: Goaltenders> defense>forwards. Yzerman building good but boring team. I hope for ASP get much stronger , he is the one who could make Red Wings fun to watch. Second camp in the row Lombardi looking like mvp

Lombardi is a real wild card. He could be anything from a bust in the AHL to a 3rd line scoring player to a 1st line center. Really excited to see where his career goes, especially this year in the AHL (hopefully). I have a good feeling about him.

Dylan James hopefully goes the way of Mazur.

Andrew Gibson also stood out in a good way, when thinking he was there at first time. Good at everything, defending, great passes, nice shootout snipe.

Also liked he wanted to ne an astronaut, if not a hockey player. :)

Where would Lombardi be if not Grand Rapids? Back to Flint?

Really wish we got to see Buchelnikov in this. Have a feeling he would do really well and get a lot more hype

Would be absolutely massive if this kid even scratches his ceiling as a player.
I mean, there was another gif from the same account that showed him find a way to escape off the boards and you could tell when he looked up he saw the opening because his face/speed lit up and he drove to the net pretty hard.

I really hope he pans out to 30+ goals. He would be a mainstay pretty easily in the top 6 and maybe even fight debrincat (if acquired) for top line duties.

Nate Danielson has got a good, thick neck. That is a great physical sign of strength and the way his body is built.

If he gets some help in whatever team he starts next season (can he go to the AHL if he is ready or does he have to go back to juniors again? Honestly don't know the rules on that), as far as scoring wingers or playmakers and a defense.

If Bedard wasn't prefaced with Danielson's name and Bedard said the hardest center he played against was Danielson, then I have all the confidence in the world that he has the ability to move up quickly.
Not sure how feasible this is, but I would love to get Nate over to Sweden. If he's as good as we think he is, how would he benefit from another year of junior? He may elevate his point totals which would look great, but would another year of junior really help his development?

If Yzerman had the ability, I think he would make all of our prospects that cant/shouldn't play in the AHL to go to SHL regardless of age/size.

I think it was in the post draft interview that he said something along the lines of SHL being a dominant league and just as good as AHL. Probably didn't say that last part, but I think he inferred it a few times. You get a 17-18 year old playing against men in the SHL for a season and if they made it through with great progression, then move them to AHL.

I am not sure how another year in the WHL will help Nate like putting him on the 4th or 3rd line center role at AHL for his first season. Move him up/down if he improves/declines.

So it sounds like dvorsky had a better development camp than danielson. Apparently StLouis brought some men for him to play against

It is 3-on-3 hockey. I wouldn't get too stiff over it.

Not sure who wants to burn an import slot on Danielson. European clubs are businesses too at the end of the day.

it can be 3 on 3 or 5 on 5, I am literally talking about just the shot.

That has nothing to do with it. if it was 4-on-5 and he got a jump to go down the wing and snaps that shot into top shelf like that, it translates to 5-on-5, 4-on-3, etc. It was essentially a 2-on-1 in the situation. He looked for the passing lane, saw he should take the shot instead and wired it.

Yeah, that is a good point. I don't think it makes sense for every draft pick, obviously, but a guy like Danielson would seem to help any team. It would obviously have to be something that he would agree with, maybe he wants to stay in NA.

Ammo just might be the exact kind of covid steal everyone speculated was possible. You can't think he's going to be a lock, but the skill and skating look legit and he's going to have the runway to hone his game.

The exact time of homerun swing I want us to take more of, not "4th-dman-ceiling" types we seem to going to the well over and over for.

Many good kids but man, was Brennan Ali a pleasant surprise.

Draper kid looked like a Helm without hands.

Art and Ken definitely talked a lot about him. He might be a guy that gets stashed and ends up being a bottom 6 player in like 5 years. Not gonna hold my breath but you never know.

He has one more season of junior. WHy would you make him go over, adjust to a new culture, language, rink size and try to get into a pro league where they dont necessarily hand out minutes to young guys?

The WHL is completely fine place for him to play for a season, focus on his nutrition and gaining some muscle instead of worrying about all kinds of stuff he would have to over there.

You misread my post, I never said to make him do anything. I'm just pointing out that another year of junior may not be the best for his development.

I coulda phrased that better, but I still dont think your post makes that much sense. Since when is a random, one off year in Sweden going to be better than the WHL?

It works when you have a kid in Europe, who has come up in their systems and everything. But for Danielson to have to go over there and adjust to everything, just to come back the next year and go to the AHL doesnt make a whole lot of sense

Think Rögle lockerroom will use English as a language. Danielson could go to replace Kasper...

Or Tappara Tampere next year. Great places to go. Tappara just signed former GR Griffin Carter Camper for next season. He could be a great mentor for Danielson.

FEL would be easier league that SHL, which has turned much stronger in last 2 off-seasons thanks to more TV-money.

It's thinking outside the box to try to get the most out of one of our few remaining top 10 draft picks. I don't personally think keeping a high end prospect like Danielson in juniors is going to be a great year of development for him, but that's just my opinion.

Hopefully it makes no difference, we really need him to build out our center depth.
