Still an odd comment, there's no record of either O'Brien or Kesler starting a fight at the Roxy, you don't shit where you eat (or drink in this particular case).
Don’t you have to start a fight at the Roxy to be accepted as a Canuck? I may be misremembering, but I thought that was included in a leaked contract a decade or so back

When alcohol is involved anything is possible. Aaron Hernanadez killed 2 guys because they spilled a drink on him.
ok ok ok hernandez was also actually in a gang that routinely killed people. Let's stop jumping from a bar fight to double murder of a gang member that happened to be very good at football.

Let's settle down here.

edit: others have elaborated on this and I am just late to the party, so i'll just bow out now.

After this pre-season, it would certainly suggest Yzerman did well by this signing. I could see a late first rounder coming at a trade deadline deal.

Most dangerous weapon on the ice.

Top5 of all teams.

Only Conn Smythe Marchessault and dominating NJD 1st line (Bratt - Hughes - Toffoli) was better.

Love being able to root for my fellow Dutchman but I'm torn. Do I go with the Dutch Dagger or the Dutch Cannon. His shot release is just so wicked. He even surprised himself with his goal against Toronto. So far, he and Kostin have quickly made me a huge fan of them both.

I like this guy, puck goes in the opposition net when he's on the ice. Great to have an option like that on your 3rd line.

I think feelings will change throughout the season about this guy.

His shot is an absolute missile, but more often than not he will look uninterested and lost in his own end. It’s been the same thing for the past few seasons with him.

Still think he will net 20-25 this year for us though.

He has been uninterested now for 3 years, and is Top5 at putting the puck on net / ice-time.

Not bad also defensively, uninterested or not. 3-year and 171 game sample size.

60.48% GF%. Mostly Sprong himself will affect most on his good GF/60 and linemates will drag him down.

*Athanasiou flashbacks*

Athanasiou is 45.45% at GF% and 44.6% at xGF% from last 3 years.

No defence.

Athanasiou GF/60 2.35
Athanasiou GA/60 2.82

Not the case with Sprong.

Sprong GF/60 3.36 (+1.01 more goals/60 vs. Athanasiou)
Sprong GA/60 2.20 (-0.62 less goals against/60 vs. Athanasiou)

It's quite significant difference, how another player will affect +1.63 goals at goal differential per 60min.

I wonder if he quit drinking because of his bar incident. He looks sharper than I've ever seen him, but then again that was preseason. Even Joey can look good playing against AHLers.

I hope not. We need someone on this team who can slap opposing players around when they start acting real big.

Sprong slowly losing the narrative of being a black hole defensively. We'll never confuse him for getting selke votes but he has the scoring touch. He also has the ability to make a pass when teams start getting wise that DET wants to give him the touch to shoot. He had 26 goals and over 50pts in 82 games with the Kraken

Edit: Don't check the username for bias.

Sprong has never been in a legit NHL fight. He's average NHL size and has played the 4th line on multiple teams, but he's never been known for any physicality aside from beating up a much smaller F1 driver while drunk.

I wouldn't be surprised if the front office said something to him after that incident came to light.
