Larkin - born and raised in Michigan, played for NTDP & University of Michigan
DeBrincat - born and raised in Michigan
Raymond - born and raised in Sweden
Tarasenko - Russian.
Kane - played for Honeybaked & NTDP
Compher - played for NTDP & University of Michigan
Copp - born and raised in Michigan, played for NTDP & University of Michigan
Rasmussen - Canadian.
Berggren - born and raised in Sweden
Fischer - played for NTDP (and for Windsor)
Motte - born and raised in Michigan
Veleno - Canadian (went to Sweden during corona)

Seider - German (went to Sweden during corona)
Edvinsson - born and raised in Sweden
Petry - born and raised in Michigan, played for University of Michigan
Chiarot - Canadian.
Gustafsson - born and raised in Sweden
Johansson - born and raised in Sweden
Määttä - Finnish.
Holl - Only outlier in here. Minnesota-American with no Michigan connections. This is alarming. :help:

Talbot - Canadian.
Husso - Finnish.
Lyon - Oh, another outlier. Another guy from Minnesota. Why is he in here?
Campbell - born and raised in Michigan, played for NTDP (and for Windsor).

So it's:
- 11 Michigan/Sweden -born players.
- 5 guys who have played in Michigan/Sweden before arriving to Detroit.
- 8 guys who have no Michigan/Sweden connections.

If you are born = 100% weight on the scale.
If you played = 50% weight on scale

11 * 100% + 5*50% = 13,5/24 players

= 56.25% Michigan/Sweden -ratio.

Wrong. He, along with Compher and Copp played for U of M, not MSU.

Yeah have the wrong team name for all.

Still Michigan.

And those prospects... latest from Sweden (MBN), NTDP (Plante), WHL (Danielson), Sweden (Sandin-Pellikka), NTDP (Augustine), Sweden (Kasper)...

It's the Sweden-Michigan Red Wings.

Relax, he's Finnish, and it wasn't intentional. It's probably confusing for foreigners to understand that there's U of Michigan and Michigan State since.... well... Michigan is a state.

Anyways, I'm waiting for the team to hit 50%+ goalies. Stevie's master plan is to dress 10 goalies each game.

Wow I knew we had the michigan connection but I never knew it was that large, we must have one of the most truly home grown teams

Red Wings success in 90-00 helped the development as did general hockey development in the US. NTDP being in Ann Arbor and Plymouth as well two large college programmes. Given that captain of this team fits everything above, it is not difficult to find a poster child for such recruitment effort - especially given general struggles to attract free agents. Home angle helped at least with DeBrincat.

Boston are bottom of the league because Marchand was not born but hatched in a sewer somewhere.
Same with the Leafs.

This hairline isn’t born. It’s made in a lab.

How much did JFresh help with this analysis? Gauging by the level of accuracy of details and arbitrary nature of the percentages, I was expecting to see his name somewhere. But if this is all you, Henkka, well done, JFresh taught you well.

One of the reasons for the extensive Michigan connections acc. to Yzerman in a recent interview is that many of those players during free agency reach out to Stevie and ask to play for the Redwings. The Redwings management though has to evaluate them individually if they are a good fit teamwise and within their salary cap structure.

Just noticed that if you are not Swedish or Michigan connected, you are

Stanley Cup winner (Määttä x2, Tarasenko x2, +Kane x3)
Stanley Cup finalist (Lyon FLO, Chiarot, MTL, Talbot NYR)
Also Husso was part of St. Louis Blues Cup run (black ace).

Only guy outside of all these, is Justin Holl.

Kane played in Michigan for a few years during his junior days, are we not counting that?

The Wings may have the lowest number of Canadians on their roster in the League.

Edit: Looked it up. In this count they are tied for the lowest number, at 7.
