is there a big difference between the white or black Arabian? I have the black as it was an easy purchase and have not taken the time to search for the white one.

I have both and haven’t noticed a difference

I believe the stats are exactly the same

Online is not working for me

I played the game on the 26th and it’s just coming up as “coming soon”

All Rockstar support says is to open a ticket on their site but no thanks

anyone know if its true that since this is the "beta" version of online that your character and progress online will just get wiped out?

if so, that's kind of pointless

Yeah I thought I’d have access today as I was installing and playing the game even before midnight on the release date. The local EB started selling it at 9PM the night before launch. Screen just says coming soon though.

No bother. I still have to finish the game. I have basically all of chapter 6 and then I guess the epilogues left to play.

Online doesn’t look fun anyway. Just a lot of jackass griefing. I am in no rush to get online but am definitely curious and will play whenever it’s available.

I just started chapter six and I just got the black Arabian, the thing rips ass and I'm not even max bonded.

It's like $850, that's a lot of money in a game where coming by that kind of money isn't easy.

1899 America is a magical, wacky place where inflation on some items is only 6-8x and on others it's 30x+, but it's cool.

Lucky for me my previous horse wasn't killed in an ambush so if anything happens, I have a fallback.

Other than that, chapter six still much to do. Only one legendary animal and one dinosaur bone, no dreamcatchers, no legendary fish, two treasure maps (poisonous trail and the jack hall gang map), I haven't even touched perfect skins and side quests everywhere.

I do have the Arabian, a maxed camp and some sweet guns though. I'll be on this game until at least Christmas.

I played the online mode a bunch today, and now...I have no desire to touch it again. It's really bad in its current state. To put it simply it's a griefer-filled grindfest.

If you have a group of 4+ people and want to shoot everyone around you, then it's probably fine. If you're playing by yourself or with a friend and want to actually do stuff, well too bad. There's nothing you can do to stop people from killing you over and over again, and defending yourself will result in lost honor. I loaded into a bunch of different worlds/lobbies and all but a few people shot on sight.

Almost everything is ridiculously expensive and you get very little for completing missions. Oh, and a lot of things you can't even buy until you reach a certain level. They're very much setting themselves up to start selling shark cards (or whatever they'll call them) for this game. It seems like it'll take 100+ hours just to afford a couple of guns, a decent saddle/stirrups and horse, and a new outfit. This is just basic stuff, I'm not even talking about camp upgrades, upgrading+customizing your guns and horse, buying many guns + outfits, etc.

With that said, it's officially a "beta" and they'll likely make a bunch of changes in the next couple of months.

Edit: and apparently the online update also fixed the disappearing camp members glitch from chapters 2-4.

Wouldn't you expect them to patch in a "Switzerland" option, like GTA5, where people can't kill/hurt you and vice versa? I would expect they want to see how bad griefing is by default, then a neutral toggle would be easy to patch in.

If they dont, I'll be doing no online. If they do, I'll be buying PSN for the year so I can rob banks & trains with randoms (or people here).

Red Dead online is exactly why i wasn't buying it. I thought GTA V was very lackluster compared to previous entries and letting the game out to dry so you can pump out an assload of crappy microtransaction loaded DLC for your online mode.

Honestly with how slow paced RDR 2 looks compared to 1 i'll probably won't ever bother. Add rockstar to the list.

GTA Online was a complete shit show at first and look at it now. I remember getting their gift/payout thing that was issued as some sort of apology for the shaky launch.

It’s unreal to me how immediately people expect their gratification.

You think so? I just bought the Arabian in chapter 4 for like $1,050 and still had $1,000 left over.

Also, I always find it kinda crazy that this game takes place in 1899 and the house I bought was built in 1910.

I was wathing some of Ken Burns’ Baseball last night and as he was listing off dates I was just thinking “so while this was going on Arthur Morgan was setting up out west”.

GTA Online was initially critiqued at launch but has grown to become stable and a huge moneymaker for Rockstar. While I don't expect things to run smoothly at launch I do anticipate things will be fixed and many people will be online in the next few months.

The game is easily worth the $60 tag for single player, so online is just a bonus in my mind.

That being said, I just find it odd that it takes a few months down the road for the online aspect of a game to "get good." It's just a weird mindset for me.

Is the online economy really that bad or am I just watching too much outrage YouTube?

TBH though I still don’t even think I’ll play it much. Not just because of the economy, but I’m just not the right generation. I can’t get into these kind of persistent online worlds. I basically never buy micro transactions. I have LITERALLY never bought a loot box/crate/whatever. I will happily buy DLC, but only when I know what I’m getting; BOTW, Mario Kart, Spider-Man, Smash Bros, these are all easy calls one way or the other. But any game (or maybe more specifically game mode....I play FIFA and NHL and they practically invented this shit with their card packs), any game that invites the appearance of impropriety to the in-game experience and economy is just instantaneously off my radar. For example Assassins Creed Odyssey; the fact that they offer a paid XP boost just tells my subconscious “well this game is designed to screw with me” so I shouldnt get passionate about it. It reminds my brain “hey idiot, you’re wasting your time right now so why not pay to get it over with faster?” And then I think to myself “why not just put the game down entirely? You’ll save time AND money” and that just 100% kills my enthusiasm.

It's abysmal. For example, the mauser pistol costs $225 in the single player and it costs $1000 online. Making one of your gun parts black costs 2 gold bars, and I think that would take 50+ hours of grinding to get. Selling things like watches and rings only gets you a fraction of the return you'd get in single player. You'll get $3-$10 for completing most missions.

I fully expect them to make it a bit better, but they're definitely going to make it a grind-fest to incentivise the purchase of online currency like GTA 5 with shark cards (which they made a fortune from).

I'm so damn tired of these companies foregoing actual development of enjoyable products in favor of how to nickle and dime you the most.

I have no problem with DLC for the most part. Hell Rockstar of all companies were actually one of the best at putting out solid extra content. GTA IV's DLC story packs were actually better than the main game. Undead Nightmare was also pretty enjoyable. Other companies also put out decent stuff. Most of Nintendo's DLC has been good to great, Bethesda, etc.

Now though? **** wasting time on meaningful content when we can just get idiots to buy heaps of junk! **** you Rockstar.

The more this gen goes on the more jaded i've become. Basically will end up going full circle and going back to playing Nintendo stuff only.

Though to be fair Odyssey isn't the best example in this quote. My friend played that game front to back and said microtransactions are only there to trick the really stupid, the game can be beaten easily without them/

That’s why I used AC Odyssey as my example. Because even if it is as good as people say, the presence of those micro transactions kill my enthusiasm.

RDR2 is different because the single player economy is completed separate from ANY online duckery.

I am probably going to just pretend the online portion of the game just isn't a thing(I just kind of hate online play in general). The single player was worth the purchase price and then some. I have atleast 80+ hours into the game and just started chapter 6. Complaining about the online portion is fair but to try and say the game isn't worth the purchase because of online micro transactions....Just no. I am sorry that doesn't work for me.
