He'll be back. I'm not worried. In fact, it's nice that he showcased himself by having a great preseason and now gets to go down and play big minutes and hone his craft in the AHL.

Huh, thought for sure he would make it. Imagine he'll be back fairly quickly.

Better be.

Word is management wants to trade Sbisa and im sure most Canucks fans are happy about that but i think it would weaken the blueline. Sbisas one of the top pk'ers and clears the net and adds toughness that will be missed

Yeah I look at it the opposite way. I think this is smart of management

That's one way to look at. Maybe they're finally learning in terms of asset management (although they still waived Pedan so...probably not).

The hypocrisy is great though. Last year it was all about who deserved to be here. Now it's about making sure we have both of Biega and Sbisa on the roster...geez. I could care less if either of them were claimed.

There were better players than Pedan on waivers that day so they would have gone first, TBH there was not much risk of anyone taking him even if there wasn't.

I would have liked to see more of Stecher though, deserved to stick around for a longer look.

..The Canucks made the smart choice sending Stecher down.

The competition for spots this year was a lot harder than last year. For his own development, it will be beneficial to ease himself into the pro game rather than being thrown into the deep end right away. He was very impressive this preseason and I can only see it as beneficial for him to play more minutes in Utica to start the year rather than being in and out of the lineup in the NHL. He will be back, and be back as a better player.

No hypocrisy, just different circumstances. Sending someone down who didn't make the NHL squad is not bad asset managment (Pedan), teams do it every year.

Sbisa, Tryamkin, Larsen, and Biega are all competing for the same spot Stecher would be competing for on the NHL roster on a nightly basis. I'd rather have him guaranteed top 4 minutes in Utica and play every night.

I'm so happy. I hope Larsen is scratched for the love of our powerplay

He's looking good. He skates like his feet are in molasses. Not the kind of molasses that slows you down. The kind that speeds you up.

Third star of the game, played over 22 minutes in his debut, looked fantastic

Thought he was excellent tonight against McDavid.

Again, I wish Chia could have signed him instead of Drake Caggiula (who also was as excellent as Stecher in preseason) but forward is not a position of need for the Oil.

Canucks have another D gem.
