Quietly having a good season in the AHL…Has been on fire lately.

Currently 35 points in 37 games so far this season.

In his last 15 games he has 25 points
Have always liked the pick and his upside…. RHD with good offensive instincts and size…. Some question marks defensively.

But very good rookie season from him, just turned 21 a month ago.

Colangelo also has had a strong rookie season with 19 goals 35 points in 37 games.

Another guy in San Diego I’m excited about is Sasha Pastujov who has 37 points in 36 games…. After spending some time in ECHL… he’s returned and kinda really turned his game around.

Does Luneau get the call up if/when Dumolin is moved? Seems like an already crowded D group in Anaheim, and maybe a full season with the Gulls would be best for Tristan anyhow.

I don't think so. Anaheim is already rotating zellweger/mintyukov/helleson through two spots. I would wager we pick someone up on waivers or an AHL vet on an expiring deal to fill in as a #7 for the rest of the season after dumo is moved.

He’s had his cup at the NHL… I think when dumo is moved well use some combination of

Mintyukov- trouba
Lacombe - gudas
Zellweger- helleson

Let Luneau continue to play top mins, top pp mins in AHL and continue to gain strength and work on his defense… obviously this is all pending any sort of injury issues. He’s coming off injury + health issues…. I think he’s better suited to finish off the season with the gulls.

Think you got to see what you have in zelly and helly too… I do think 1 of the dmen will be packaged for a legit top 6 forward help if we can get help through free agency.

Up to 2nd in dmen scoring in the AHL(with at least 6 less games than people around him) , and 1st in PPG amongst dmen.

Cagnoni really caught my eye in preseason / rookie tourneys…. But undersized but curious to see if he can turn out a nhl career

If he gets strong enough to handle NHL forwards, he's a guy. If he doesn't, he isn't. Simple as that, I think. He has NHL skill without a doubt, and he's actually pretty good defensively at the AHL level. Really smart, great puck skills and edges.

My worry is that the skating may not be elite enough for his size. I don't think he's as fast as Hutson and Zellweger.

I havnt watched him enough to really give a fair assessment, just in the few times I have seen him he’s stood out in good ways. Would be another nice little hit, if he pans out as even a bottom pairing OFD

Saw a fair bit of Zellweger and Cagoni in the WHL. Not as fast and likey not as agile as Zellweger, but I thought Cagoni was the smarter player of the two. Really sees the ice well and like you said is a great skater in his own right.

He does stand out in both ends at the AHL level, no question about that. Hope he translates, even if it's bottom pairing/PP specialist, because he's a really easy guy to root for.

Feels right to me. Cagnoni's hockey IQ and composure under pressure are his best attribute. Really just have to wait and see if he can make it work in the NHL.

Anyway, to bring this back to Luneau, I think he's improved significantly from the start of this season. I remember not being very impressed with him watching Gulls games against the Cuda early in the season, but he's been great lately. Definitely has top-4 upside.
