It's always fun when people who don't watch the games spout dramatic opinions.

Honestly, it's just so weird. If he were struggling in the AHL, I'd kind of get the concern. But he's not. So clearly this is just a developmental decision being made by the team...and that developmental decision could be for the sake of the team (they are already have two younger blueliners playing consistent, important minutes) and the player.

In addition to what has previously mentioned above, I always wondered if the Devils recent experience with Ty smith has made the organization more cautious on how they handle their top end defensive prospects.

Don't see much similarity between the two players. One was a top-five pick and the other picked later in the first round.

The two situations do however point out how organization needs can differ. The cupboard was pretty bare when Smith had his chance to play. The depth of this Devils' team allows them to season Nemec properly.

Yet, I was told that NJ was too deep for Nemec to crack the lineup or play any significant amount of games. They are 10-9-1 and not exactly a defensive juggernaut. Meanwhile Nemec is buried with Hattakka in Utica.

It’s really something what Arizona is doing with Cooley, really should be a corner piece for what organizations do with young top picks who aren’t Bedard. Give him 1 year in college, ahl, or in Europe. Then bring them to the nhl for year 2 play them with vets and give them Pp time. Get them out against lesser matchups but also let them make mistakes. Baffling how Nitra did a better job with Nemec then a billion dollar organization has been doing .
Sounds like you're just a nationalist who is salty that a top Slovakian prospect is playing in the AHL.

I'm sure you're thrilled about Slafkovsky's development in the NHL.

Criticizing NJ’s player development when Bratt, McLeod, Bahl, Schmid, Holtz, Mercer have all taken massive strides within the organization is probably not the correct assessment. This says nothing of the Hughes bros or Hischier. Nemec will be fine and is a big part the future unless he sucks.

Dude  The NHL teams don't develop players, they just steal grown men from teams that have been developing players since they were young.

If they don't call him up from the AHL now that probably two donkeys are out of NJ due to injury and suspension then he really needs to ask for a trade.
Jeez some of you Slovak team homers are unreasonably impatient. You'd think after watching Slafkovsky struggle after getting rushed into the NHL, you'd maybe have a bit more patience with your top young prospects.

Nemec is a 19 year old defenseman, currently the youngest dman in the AHL. And it's not like he's dominating so much that his play demands a call up. He's 36th in defenseman scoring (34th in PPG).

Would I like to see him in the lineup over guys like Smith? Of course, he's much better. But I also like that he's being given time to fully mature his defensive game on NA ice. With L Hughes + Hamilton (and Casey on the way) the Devils probably won't need to rely on him offensively, but they'll really need him to develop into a rock defensively. And the best way to do that is to not rush him.

The Finn’s have finally forgiven us for taking Jack over Kakko since Lenni is a good, so Europe needed something else to get mad about.

The Nemecian Era begins.

He is the next Miro Hesikanen and he wont go back down

Will be interesting to see what happens when fully healthy. I think the major concern at start of the season was having too many new/new-ish NHLers on the blue-line (Luke, Bahl) but Luke has settled in so nicely that should be less of a concern now.

I think Miro works for Luke but I just don't think Nemec has that same level of skating. Nemec is a really good skater. Miro and Luke are ELITE
I think Nemec is a damn good skater, probably not as good as Heiskanen indeed, but still very good and efficient. He also has a very good acceleration. I just think they play the game in a similar way. Not too flashy, effective, poised, high IQ, two-way D-men.

Luke I see more as a truly offensive minded guy even if his defensive game is pretty darn good right now. I have a hard time finding a true stylistic comparable for him.
