In today's era of umbrella PPs with 1 defenseman, yeah, Seider is probably not going to get a lot of PP time. But I see him as a great minute-munching type partner for a skilled offensive guy who needs a little help. I'm thinking of somebody on the Filip Hronek level, somebody who brings high end offense, but can't really control the game well enough defensively to be a safe top pairing player. Seider can make that work.

I am thinking with his size and ability to move people. They will find a role for him on the Power play. He moves well enough. Has the ability to jump into plays and move the puck. Pair him with a legit quarterback defenseman. I actually think with a little creativity it could be dangerous. Either way, it will be nice to have someone out there who can chew up minutes at a high level.

I like Seider a lot. Great hockey IQ, super calm with the puck, big, physical, good skater, there’s a lot to like! In a 2019 re-draft he’d be my top ranked dman (Soderstrom 2nd, Byram 3rd).

I still don’t see the top end offensive skills to make him an ideal #1D, but definitely a top pairing guy who will terrify the opposition and shut down the leagues best. He would be great to pair with an all out offensive D.

I see him as a D who puts up points in the 30’s with little PP time. Won’t lead the offense, but won’t be a liability there either.
I see so much potential for a Hedman-esque growing of his offensive game. Hedman didn't crack 30 points until his 5th NHL season.
He probably does end up being paired with guys who are more offensive in nature, for example Cholowski could be a great partner looking at what's already in Detroit, but he also has the potential to be a 25-30 minute type minute-muncher who plays in all situations.
I really liked the way he worked the PP at the WJC. He's not going to be Erik Karlsson, but he's calm, poised, good at keeping pucks in the zone and moves himself and the puck well. The shot needs improvement but I see that as something fairly easy to improve.

Then how do you expect his offensive game to grow like Hedman?

You shouldn’t mistake not putting up points for not having top flight offensive skill. If you are saying Seider doesn’t have that, you shouldn’t be comparing him to Hedman. He’d need to make significant talent improvements to be comparable to Hedman.

He gives me a trouba vibe, Atleast offensively. He’s not gonna be some crazy dynamic offensive creator from the blue line. But he’s more than capable of moving the puck well in transition and walk-in the blue and gettin shots through. Could be a 40Pt all situations D in his prime IMO. (Points depending on supporting cast)

wont predict sides offensive ceiling but i guarantee his floor is 35 . now we get to his game when opponant has the puck = shall become thee most valuable dman when without the puck in nhl because of : elite hockey iq - very coordinated skating with excellent speed for a big man - reach with good hands - and dominant heavy weight hitting game . this isnt no homer read by me , you'll start hearing this from everybody that sees him play like ive been lucky enough to see all his ahl games

The odds of you questioning someone's comparison if he were a leafs prospect is zero percent.

Why do you bring the Leafs into everything? You seem obsessed. I find it hilarious that someone compares Seider to a better version of one of the best defensemen in the league. It's hype out of control.

So what's wrong with that? It's a compliment on what I believe he will be during his NHL career.

Because the chances of that happening are almost zero. It would be like saying Caufield is Kane with a better shot for example. The talent levels aren't even close. There have been 18 year old defensemen who have been 18 year old AHL D within the past 2 seasons who have produced at a better rate than Seider has without nearly the hype.

Yes, the talent level of the #6 overall pick is nowhere close to a 1st pairing D

Just stop.

Also, producing at a better rate? Who cares about production rate, he is a two-way D and his offensive upside already seems higher than most people expected before the draft. He was never supposed to be Erik Karlsson vol. 2 unlike most of the other guys "producing at a better rate".

Or are you just sad people are high on Seider when they should be on Sandin? That would really explain a lot.

Or do you think Parayko is some kind of god? How about Parayko's "production rate"? Does it put him among the "best defensemen in the league"?

Why do you need to run every Wings' prospect down?

Seriously though... How bad does the inferiority complex have to be that you can have your best team in 30 years, and we can have our worst in 30 years, and you still have to do this. It's sad. Very sad.
