How many hate crimes against a mentally disabled child did you commit as a youth?

I used to chase bears into trees. Threw eggs at houses. Used to get into big groups of friends and be noisy, just so when the police came we could run.

Didnt commit any hate crimes though, maybe I had a really tame childhood.

14 is young. Definitely young enough to not understand the gravity of your words (just hop in any Xbox game lobby) and actions. I think it's certainly possible to mature and grow past this behavior.

That being said someone definitely should ask him about the lack of a personal apology.

Bottom line is its up to each organization and what their level of acceptance is. Personally, I wouldn't have drafted him or a few other players that have character issues. I don't want them in my program at all if I was a GM.

Seeing as how the legal system puts a lot of focus on rehabilitation and not as much on actual punishment, I'm not at all surprised that Mitchell Miller will most likely be able to continue pursuing a career as a pro hockey player.

If he's able to turn a corner, make honest efforts to change his ways, improve himself and make proper amends with the family of the child he bullied, then he should be given that second chance.

Same goes for everyone, though. Had the roles been reversed and it was revealed that Quinton Byfield bullied a white kid when he was in grade school, I'd expect the same level of tolerance in hopes that these people learn from their past transgressions.

If Miller is unable or unwilling to change, however, then I expect Arizona to sever ties with him completely and he'll be blacklisted by the league.

What you did is pretty damn tame and is what every kid mostly went through around that age. What Miller did was beyond bullying and crossed the line into physical and mental ABUSE and would be considered a hate crime. He also did it for YEARS! He also did not even apologize to the kid he bullied but sent apology letters to the NHL teams like what? how does that make any sense to apologize to the NHL teams that past him up drafting him when he hasn't sincerely apologized to the kid he bullied for all those years? calling him the N word and "brownie"?!?!?

I think everybody reading this said and did all sorts of dumb shit as a 14 year old. God knows I did. But what Miller did goes wayyyyy beyond what anybody reading this did (hopefully).

Like high danger shot area ( homeplate), Open/closed shot, and the only pro sport roster proof ( thanks Vegas).

I am high function Autistic, (Person of disability) high than Aspergers on the spectrum.
In today’s Schools, bullying is about targeting of the socially vulnerable (usually some level on the autistic spectrum).
It is a daily/weekly occurrence in almost every high school in NA.
Disability targeting is not a racial issue.
But at a young age kids will use any means (Race, Religion, etc.) to target a socially disfunctional person.
The rate of disabled targeting is on a much higher level in schools. 10’s to 1000’s of times more per million kids.
The reason being, the only recent push of disability injustice. Rather than the almost 100 yrs push against racial injustice.

MLK said he dreamed of a day when his children could be judged by the content of their character rather than the colour of their skin. Mental disability is part of a persons character.

It is just a repeat history of groups of kids ( boys and girls) targeting socially dysfunctional kids.
Driven by: (based on personal and court document history)
- A desire to fit on an upper Class group.
- Insecurity in themselves.
- Pure Psycopathy. Texting “Wish I had done this to You earlier”
- a blend of all.
The groupS repeat history reflects the reason.
has it been a collection of black disabled or Just a collection of disabled. When it involves Disability it is almost never racial.
Many followers in a group are often very remorseful. The repetative leaders are the ones we need to look at.
The kid has gone from a 14 yr old to an 18 yr old.
Likely a diffrent person based on the elite driven nature to be at that sports level.
Is he permanatly indoctrinated or has he growing out of it.

Well based on experience probably a household in rural America. I grew up in a town around the same population near a big city. And this nonsense was all over the place.

Sounds like there was another fellow involved in the abuse too, but he (like any normally socially developing person) expressed remorse in a tear filled apology.
