Back-to-back multipoint nights for DuPont against SEA, 3-2-5 in 2 GP. He's a freak. 9-28-37 in 31 GP on the season. Best defensive prospect I've ever seen, and one of the best prospects I've ever seen.

Kind of a lucky play here, but he just has those unteachable offensive instincts.

His production as a 15 year old is just insane. One of the best skaters I've seen.

I really don’t understand how people believe Gibson, Mynio, Price, people like that are better than him right now.

I get he’s young, but Switzerland brought a player the same age and DuPont is like two times as good as him.
They’re on the team for their excellent defence.

Maybe hockey Canada feels he DuPont isn’t as strong with that(but no doubt very talented offensively)

Also switzlerland isn’t Canada. The worst Canadian player would be the best Swiss one

Are they really playing excellent defense?

I have no doubt you are right about why he wasn't picked. Doesn't mean it was the right choice. Canada should've picked a more skilled and talented team.

I'm not suggesting that making Switzerland is justification for making Canada. I'm merely saying that he's not too young for the tournament. There's another kid his age playing at the tournament.

It is too young though when there is already a few 25 draft eligable, plus a 26.
If it was a real vet squad, then maybe as a PP guy. Icing a talented, but very young squad is also a recipe for disaster.
That blue line has the potential to be the best ever at the WJC nect year. Schaefer, Dickenson, Yakemchuk, Parekh, Dupont. :naughty:

I know Gibson and Mynio are there strictly for that. Not 100% familiar with price but I would assume he is a good 2 way d man.

Yes DuPont would’ve been the best player probably on a lot of the crappy teams in the tournament but just Canada is always one of the more strong ones obviously.

I definitely think he is on the team next year.

They really aren't gonna consider a 15 year old until they've paid some dues with the younger teams and gotten some more CHL reps under their belt. May as well ask why McDavid wasn't on the Olympic team in 2014. Just how it goes. 16 has been the glass ceiling for Canadian prospects. DuPont is probably there next season.

DuPont was named to the CHL Team of the Month for December.

This is his excerpt from the article:

D – Landon DuPont (Everett Silvertips / WHL)
5G-11A, 16 PTS, +4 in 9 GP in December

After registering five goals and 11 assists in nine games in December, 15-year-old defenceman Landon DuPont of the No.3-ranked Everett Silvertips (WHL) is making his first-ever appearance on the CHL Team of the Month. Having amassed 16 points over the last month, DuPont ranked third in scoring among defencemen in the CHL in December. Impressively, the 5-foot-11, 179-pound defenceman tallied points in eight of his nine games during the month. He also registered six multi-point performances in December, including four straight to close out the calendar year. Additionally, DuPont has tallied a goal in each of his last three contests in December as he now has four goals over his last three outings. During what is his first season in the WHL, the 15-year-old from Calgary, Alta., has totaled 10 goals and 30 assists for 40 points and a +23 rating in 32 games in 2024-25. His 30 assists and 40 points on the year not only lead all WHL rookies this season, but they both rank first among all first-year skaters in the CHL. Last April, DuPont became just the ninth Exceptional Status Player in CHL history and the first defenceman in WHL history to have received this distinction to compete full-time as a 15-year-old. Later that same spring, the Everett Silvertips drafted the young blueliner with the first-overall pick in the 2024 WHL Prospects Draft. Additionally, in November 2024, DuPont tallied four assists in four games en route to a silver medal with Canada Red at the U17 World Hockey Challenge. For his efforts in Sarnia, DuPont was named to the 2024 World U17 All-Star Team.
