Up to 18 pts in 16 games; to put into context that production, McKenna had the exact same amount in his 16 games in his 15 year old season…… as a forward
As in Canada? This kid has a chance to be a generational talent. We haven’t had one at D in forever.
Cale Makar is not a generational talent. He's an elite franchise defenseman. As in Canada?
Does Cale Makar not exist?
So does Dupont...Cale Makar is not a generational talent. He's an elite franchise defenseman.
He has a hell of a lot of work to do to be considered a generational talent.
I think he’s talking about pre-draft. DuPont was miles ahead of Makar pre-draft. DuPont is easily the best defenseman pre draft since Dahlin (2018), and he’s likely also better than him by a not so small gap. I don’t think at this point you’d take any player from the 9 years pre 2027 over DuPont, so I think quite literally he looks generational as of now.So does Dupont...
Cale is 26 and has already won the Calder, a Norris, a Conn Smythe, and a Cup, and he's perennially in the top 3 for the Norris. Dupont is super exciting but he's 15 years old... Cale absolutely is closer to being the defensemen that defines the 2010 drafted D's and the NHL's style. If he's not yet generational, I'd say he's on that track.

Karl never sniffed a Conn Smythe. I agree he hasn't done it yet but then why are we talking about it for Dupont?A generational talent has a bit of a higher bar.
Like, top 30 player all time bar. Let's see how his career pans out. Right now he is slightly behind erik Karlsson at the same age.
Erik at age 26 had 2 Norris trophies, 2 runner up Norris, and 4 top 10 hart finishes in a lower scoring era.
Sure, hard to dispute pre-draft. This is why I don't like the generational debate anyway, but I know it's not going to end.I think he’s talking about pre-draft. I feel like his 2017 playoffs was absolutely on track to be Conn Smythe worthy had the Sens converted in the ECF Game 7 OT instead of PIT. EK was on another level - 18 points in 19 games. 3 ahead of next closest and 8 ahead of the next players on his team. Craig Anderson was the only other remotely important Senator in that runKarl never sniffed a Conn Smythe. I agree he hasn't done it yet but then why are we talking about it for Dupont?

They would have been very worthy of defeating the Preds that year
Not to derail the thread
DuPont is much better defensively than some have advertised.
But also keep in mind that he's 15 years old. To be okay defensively at that age in junior is very difficult. Even someone like Keaton Verhoeff (who is more of a traditional defensive zone guy) would've looked a lot worse at 15 than he does at 16. You have to grade it on a curve.Let's not go overboard. He's functionally ok. He plays with Jamieson which masks a lot of mistakes.

Makar's Conn Smythe is on the back of Mackinnon. Karlsson's carrying of that shit Sens team with mike Hoffman and Bobby Ryan as their best forwards to game 7 of the Conference finals speaks volumes,Karl never sniffed a Conn Smythe. he cant officially verbal commit to august 1 going into his junior of high school - im not sure what grade he is in but if he visited denver( start taking schools jan 1) hes in sophmore year so he can commit august 1. So for Canada thats the official dates . you will lot of these kids speed up school to get college 1 year earlier too.Now the clock has begun to see if Dupont seriously considers going to the NCAA in a couple years.
Been a really good 15 year old season for him in the Dub.
"As advertised" was some said he was an offensive phenom who absolutely sucked defensively. Not hard to be impressed by his defence when the only things you heard were bad. In that case ok looks pretty good.I know, but the point is he's just ok defensively. It's the least developed part of his game.
I also mentioned he's only 15 so there's a lot of runway here.
He's going to be playing his first year of college in the nhl.he cant officially verbal commit to august 1 going into his junior of high school - im not sure what grade he is in but if he visited denver( start taking schools jan 1) hes in sophmore year so he can commit august 1. But if the rumor is he visited DU now (before Jan 1), he visited illegally. So the rumor is surely trash.he cant officially verbal commit to august 1 going into his junior of high school - im not sure what grade he is in but if he visited denver( start taking schools jan 1) hes in sophmore year so he can commit august 1. Title or not, there isn’t team in the league where Makar wouldn’t immediately be their #1 defenceman.Cale Makar is not a generational talent. He's an elite franchise defenseman.

It is plus a player can't leave the team without approvalBut if the rumor is he visited DU now (before Jan 1), he visited illegally. So the rumor is surely trash.
I mean he didn't win the Norris last year, but how about we don't turn the Dupont thread into a pissing match between Avs and Nucks fans?Title or not, there isn’t team in the league where Makar wouldn’t immediately be their #1 defenceman.
I’m neither. But point taken.I mean he didn't win the Norris last year, but how about we don't turn the Dupont thread into a pissing match between Avs and Nucks fans?
