Youngest d-man to play on the WJC for Canada was Jay Bouwmeester at 16. Jaybo was a big kid though, and that was a long long time ago. That said, what i heard from a family member who was at the Regina game was "He looks like he's too good for the whl". Freakish really. Can't wait till Everett comes through BC. I'm already going to the Kamloops game, might try to go to Kelowna as well.

I don’t see how you can pick him for the World Juniors. He’s probably too young to not be worried about his size and defense against the best junior hockey players in the world, not just potentially the best junior hockey league in the world. The WJC is basically an all star junior tournament, even if it’s been watered down of late.

How could you even have him on the same defense as Parekh? Their skillsets might be different as DuPont gets older, but functionally they are probably pretty similar right now and shoot the same way. It’s a role that many others on the team could fill, like Yakemchuk, who probably earned an NHL roster spot this season.

There's literally 0% chance he makes the team. Like, I don't think they'd take him even if he were leading the WHL in points. He hasn't progressed through the Program of Excellence, Hockey Canada will not put him ahead of other kids who have.

Like Bedard, he will bypass the U17 Challenge, and go straight to the 2025 U18 Worlds, then probably play the 2026 WJC later that year.
He's actually not skipping the U17 Challenge, as he was one of 41 CHL players named to Team Canada for the showcase that takes place in Nov.

Bedard didn’t skip the tournament either. They didn’t hold one during COVID seasons. Had there been a tournament when he was in his exceptional status season, he absolutely would’ve been there.
That makes sense, I was wondering why he never played in the tournament.

This kid is unbelievable. At his age, doing what he is doing is phenomenal.

Wish he played in Ontario so I could see him.

He's looked really good. This level of offensive production this young froma defenseman is just unheard of.

Hope he can grow a couple inches.
5'11" and 179 lbs at 15 is pretty decent I'd say.

the thing that's going to happen though is that he is currently 5th in WHL scoring as a 15 year old Dman and his draft year some people are going to say well he isn't going to score 200+ points this year so he isn't going to be a good as expected.....

I say just sit back and enjoy cause man this is probably what it was like to watch Bobby Orr is Oshawa.

And before people get too excited I'm not comparing him to Bobby Orr just comparing the junior hype and status at such a young age on the back end.

Huge Silvertips fan, can confirm the beginning of this series has been absolutely can't miss, amazing to watch.

Been following the team for many years. The Tips have always been decent to good, but never done much in the playoffs. I expected this year to be a year to be pretty decent, definitely a step below Med Hat / PG, but competitive and give DuPont + other '07 / '08 prospects a taste of junior hockey as the team preps to be major contenders in a year or two before DuPont gets drafted.

Not only does he seem acclimated so far, he's arguably the team's best D-man. Tips have two legit top pairings right now (Hammell-Smith, DuPont-Jamieson). If the goaltending can be at least slightly above average this team looks very, very good, way better than I expected.

TL;DR Everett loves Chemical Boy.

Got a chance to see DuPont live for the first time when he played in Portland on Saturday.

The game itself was pretty low-event and boring. But you can still tell DuPont already looks like the team's most dynamic D-man some nights.

I watched a play in the 1st period where he craftily generated a zone exit skating effectively out of pressure. That's patience I feel like I don't see players doing reliably until their 19-year-old season in juniors.

This kid is absolutely legitimate.

I remember hyping this kid up 2 years ago after my kid played against him and got bashed by the HFBoardNerds. This kid is the real deal and has been way ahead of everyone his birth year for a long time. My only concern for him is that he has grown at all of the last two years so he may have peaked physically. He always stood out as a kid that was just different than all of the other top kids. Wishing him the best.

Even if he sucks defensively and stops growing, which I don’t think we know to be true, he may still score enough to be an NHL star.

His scoring is truly absurd. I think you have to consider whether he should take Parekh’s WJC spot this year.

I called him being the best player in NHL history when I saw him playing with Edge 2 years ago. He's not just offense either. He's an elite defender. Totally controls the ice when he's out there. He makes Makar look like a beer leaguer.

Are they taking two players of that type? I doubt it, especially if one is a 15 year old.

DuPont is on the same exact PPG page as Parekh had last year, and better compared to this season. DuPont may be as good already, and obviously he’s a better prospect for the future.

Canada isn't taking a 15 year old Damn to the WJC, they had a huge supply of older players to take end of story.

Why is it end of of story? I thought that too, and then I had a realization in the past few weeks that DuPont might be that good that he’s going to make it a discussion.

Are you telling me that McDavid at 15 wasn’t a player that should’ve been in the discussion? Obviously not saying there’s a guarantee he reaches that type of level, but DuPont seems to be good enough where you have to throw his age out the window and look only at the level of play for where he should be playing.
