Sandin Pellikka seem to have had a good combine. First in the bench press results. Not bad for a player that some has expressed size concerns about.
He also was 7th in the VO2max test, so fitness shouldnt be a concern. In this article, but also in other swedish articles, he has pointed at his father being a cross-country skier has helped him a lot, especially with the off-season training, and during the pandemic when a lot players was training by themselves.

I am interested in his defensive play, he will be a PP QB with poor defense, or his defense will be average or even above average? With Dahlin and Power, he might not be a good fit, but having three guys who move the puck so well and play PP would be nice.

How does he compare at the same age with Brannstrom and Soderstrom, two relatively small seedish offensive D that were highly regarded and havent really panned out

Am I nuts for getting Adam Fox vibes off this kid? He seems to have that uncanny ability to look people off and to create space when basically standing still.
There is a reality in which I could see ASP being that good. Or even Karlsson. But I could also see Vince Dunn (which isn’t a bad thing). Or Brannstrom. He’s really hard to pin down. But I do really like watching him play.

I think ASP ends up somewhere between Ellis and Brännström as a player, although it's still too early to tell what kind of player Brännström will be.

Whatever team drafts ASP, they need to be patient with him, as I'm guessing he needs a lot of time to adjust to NHL level both with and without the puck. But at the time he is 25, I feel pretty confident about him being a top 4 defender who has positive impact offensively, defensively and transition wise.

Top 10ish might be a little too high for me, as it's just so much more demanding to be an actual impact player as a defender with his size, and I don't think his offensive game will translate to NHL as well as Hutson's for example. But he definitely could end up being worth a top 10 pick, and for me at least the 10-25ish group is pretty tight. I think a team would end up being pretty happy with their pick if they get to pick ASP around 20ish and take the proper time to develop him.

ASP actually had a better season than Brannstrom/Boqvist back in 17/18 but will probably end up getting selected lower than them due to the fact, that those guys aswell as Lundqvist and to some extent Sandin didn't meet the expectations, and he is now being compared to them since they are from the same place and of the same mould

His defense really isn’t that bad. It’s no different than any smaller dman lighting up the NHL. The shot creation is fantastic. Footwork is elite. Passing, vision, hands, you name it. He is not sloppy in his own end. He was promoted to Skelleftea and that team was a contender. Huge deal to play that many games but also log minutes at the WJC as a U18, then does great at the U18 WC and Hlinka. Not perfect but he could have been the J20 Norra MVP this season (if they do that).

Hope Flames get him.

S-P and Benson were the 2 guys I'd have targetted once Michkov was gone. Of course they both go to division rivals... Lol

He has the first step they don’t. In fact he has 4-5 of them. So he makes guys miss after retrieving and makes the play. He’s very smart for an 18 year old kid. He also has the core strength already. Brannstrom didn’t have that. I honestly can’t remember Soderstrom at the same age.

So he really just has to build on that strength and he has a really good chance to be a Letang type. There’s a good chance he’s the best Dman in this draft when it’s all said and done.

Perfect guy to play behind Seider in the depth chart but be the primary PPQB. He'll also be potentially paired with Edvinsson which is a salivating combo down the road.

I just LOVE this pick for my team. We get a high-feel, more complete 200 ft RD replacement for Hronek. Yes he's still a little ways away but I think the potential is through the roof for him.

It’s now official… they have the best group of young dmen we’ve seen in a long time. Probably better than what Carolina and Nashville had. Now they just have to perform in the NHL.

They’re going to have 4 monsters and Johansson and ASP who can skate like the wind. Most teams don’t have one of what they have 5 of. Poor Johansson gets no press, but he will be a Brian Rafalski. No doubt about that.

95% sure he’s a future Nashville Predator.

Happy we got him, he seems to be a perfect addition to the Wings rebuild. Excited about our prospect pool and Yzerman making the 2 picks instead of making trades. Danielson is a great addition and if had played for a good program.. would be drafted higher this year IMO.

I wasn't a huge fan of ASP for my team (Canucks), but if I can think of a perfect situation to capitalize on his skillset it is with Detroit and what you're building on the back end. I'm very excited about your blueline there. It is going to be something else.
