Go be an islanders fan then
We shouldn't criticize this guy for speaking his mind, even if it is clearly WAY wrong, based on the visuals.
Obv, Krav was not going to last, and he will not be a bust. Yes, there could always be an Alex Daigle [sp?] and I personally misread Tysen Dowzak, lol. However, Krav I see them trying to get him here asap and playing w/Kreider, a real prob for opponents to stop.

Miller is way better than McIl; key in this league is usually skating as a base, and this guy is a good skater with off the charts strength, etc. He will be an anchor on our D.

I'm really looking forward to seeing Miller's progression at Wisconsin. The ceiling could be ridiculous. Nothing is a guarantee but like the physical skills + attitude+ size+ Raw ability (which some have turned into a negative about him)

After all the draft results and trades and free agent signings(and ones to come) this rebuild to a top ten team is gonna require patience. The West look like they are in a arms race. The East is full of pride and revenge with the Caps Pens Flyers and of course the Bolts and more. Our beloved Rangers need to be a bubble team and cash in at the trading deadline and add another 4-6 B to A players for the 2019 Draft. Quinn can make the transition along with the players. This time next year we can survey our options and get some free agents to further along the process. It is happening and hopefully they get lucky with an elite talent or 2. In the meantime LGR !!

Kratvsov pick: B+
Trade of 26 and 48 for 22: D-
Miller pick: B-
Lundkvist pick: B-
Day One: D

I think the narrative of the draft changes a lot for me if the deal to trade up for Miller was 26 and 70 instead of 26 and 48. Then people arent upset about three (!) things

1. Getting bent over value wise
2. Taking a goalie with their only 2nd
3. Missing Wise by one pick

Unfortunately, that is the story of the Rangers draft. Even if Kravtsov is better than Wahlstrom, this draft can easily be considered a failure if Miller and Lindbom bust. There was way too much quality on the board to give away 48 like that.

This doesnt mean Gorton or Clark should be fired. It doesnt mean the sky is falling, but it is very hard for me not to feel disappointed.

You know what's D-? Years and years of drafting guys like Callahan, Dubinsky, Stepan etc. etc.

Getting pretty tired of the "safe pick NHL 3rd liner/grinder/maybe 2C"

"You wanna make an omelette, gotta crack some eggs".

I'm okay they are trying to get a game breaker, EVEN if it doesn't work out and every single player busts. But our past approaches in the previous drafts haven't really been fruitful aside from a late, late draft pick that came out of nowhere (Lundqvist) and a pick 30 years ago (Leetch).

I think the organization as a whole has been mortified by the Brendl and Lundmark picks, so much so that we haven't really risked much. So, overall I'm happy with a riskier approach.

What? Callahan was a 4th round overager pick that had great seasons as 2nd line player. Dubinsky was a late 2nd round pick. Stepan was a late 2nd rounder that had many 50 point seasons and whom we turned into a 7th overall pick. Those are as game changers as you usually can get in those rounds.

Solid A for me. I knew Kravtsov was a target. I think he's the best chance the Rangers have for a high end top line forward in the system. He's more well-rounded then Wahlstrom, and doesn't have question marks about his motor/effort. Anyone thinking this is a reach needs to get outside of whatever bubble they were in leading up to draft night. I had him pegged as either a trade up target or potential pick if the other players the Rangers liked were off the board. The price for Miller was a little steep, but this kid is going to be a beast. People would not stop raving about the kid on NHL Network radio. I thought he wouldn't get past NJ, and probably only did because Ty Smith fell into their laps. And I LOVE the Lundkvist pick. The story that has been repeated is that observers at the U-18s kept getting him and Boqvist mixed because of their play. He's not as dynamic as Boqvist, but he can run a PP and he's better in his own zone, plus no concussion issues. None of these picks were reaches.

And Serreon Noel? A player with limited upside and skill...another player I was thrilled the Rangers stayed away from.

I agree that Miller was a good/Great addition

but outside of Detroit @30 and Washington @31 nobody was risking 1st rounders on lanky projects from russia....so trading down to say...mid teens or even early 20's to grab Miller
then adding say Veleno would've been the prudent move...of course there'll be some stud that makes the jump out of the 2nd or 3rd round...*I kind of like Blade jenkins*

but the reality is the team was simply casting a wide net....

for a team that was looking for character leaders....why didn't they add some more captains like Kjell's samuellssons' son?

he + Miller and say Veleno would've been easy 1st round studs....and the team would clearly been able to get speedy Right shooting blueliners in rounds 2 _+_

Right now the direction seems aimed at puck rushing blueliners and snipers ....but the likelihood that any of them are ready for full time duty before 2020....is low.

Why would we waste a 1st round pick on a guy which ceiling is a 3rd line center?

I don't understand loving Miller but not wanting Noel. Miller is a project with seemingly limited offensive ability. Noel is less of a project and has great N/S skating ability according to Brock from the OHL Blog. He had him rated as the 5th best OHL prospect.

Noel from what I've read has limited upside. Miller has many more facets to his game. I'm not one who falls in love with size for size sake.

Fair enough. I just don't know that Miller has the offensive skillset to be more than a physical, defensive defenseman. I would have gone a different route at 22.
