If Kupari could get his hands working, he's in pretty elite territory. He looks like he's getting better in all areas every game, I'd love to see him with KC or Ehlers. Linemates with speed and finishing ability.

He really seems like he could have a lot of untapped potential. Case in point last night when he blew past everyone and had a great scoring opportunity in alone.

and the opposing view

Some of that NHL Edge Data is pretty cool. I think Fleury has the highest speed burst on defense.

The one I was watching is the distance travelled and Morrissey is way up there, 5th in the NHL in ES distance travelled. De Melo in contrast is among the lowest for distance travelled per 60. Scheifele is up there too. Higher than I thought he would be be, but when you measure distance travelled if you defend a lot or break down defensively it seems like it would add to the skating out there. But also tells you who is doing the legwork on this team.

Amazing that KC and Ehlers don't show up on these speed lists. Just goes to show have bloody fast Kupari is though.
I wonder though if players hit their fastest speeds on the PK, because that is the races, whereas going one on one downhill on a d-man you have to be a bit shiftier, and you are always slower with the puck than without it. Past couple of games you've seen Barron really explode on the PK too, where you get those one on ones with tired d-men and you just bury them in a race. Speed is great, I remember the Pens brought in a world class speed skater on their team, Koltsov I think, wasn't a very hockey player though. Both Kupari and Barron, and Appleton too could stand some more practice in the shooting department.

I'd like to see Kupari get a run a bit higher in the lineup, maybe with Perfetti and Ehlers. He's been really good and I think his ceiling is higher than a 4C.
He has been so consistent in that role I don't know I want to mess with that. It's where his place is when this team is at its best. If Lowry ever were to go down it would be his time to prove his worth in that elevated role.

Sure, if Ehlers is not day-to-day.

I also think the Jets can shake up the Lowry line, considering that Appleton just isn't doing much offensively.

Maybe...

81-55-13
27-15-91
62-17-9
36-7-22

Appleton is only being outscored by Ehlers and Connor at 5v5 this season.

I’m not sure why he’s always singled out for slumps. Vilardi only has 1 5v5 point over the last 10 games and Perfetti only has 2.

If Kupari had hands he would be unreal, kind of reminding me of Dougie Smail right now.

To tell you the truth I'm more impressed with Kupari finishing his checks and winning board battles than his speed. I would like to see him play winger with Scheifele and Connor ... they need someone to win board battles in the heavy games when they play teams like the Kings. Or even put Connor on a line with Lowry and Nino. CVS line is invisible in those heavy games.

He is playing slower and simpler this year and is a lot better for it

Kupari is getting better and better. That's one of the better 4th lines in the league. With any luck he'd have 5 goals already
Or any goal scoring ability. He is playing well on the 4th line but is very likely always going to be a black hole for offense. 4 points in 62 games as a Jet is pretty telling about how much offense you can expect from him.

Ya. Although I could see him developing into a 3rd C shut down guy, 15 goals. He's so young still.
