Sucks to see Kupari get hurt. It does make the answer of who sits for vilardi? easier though as it was bw him and Barron for me.

sorry 1 good game is meaningless. 70+ games between goals and only 11 points in that span?

31 points in 159 games?

Why is this guy on our team?
Honestly...I don't get it at all.

Bumping Kupari thread. Former 20 overall has some skill/suze/speed. Hoping he finds his mojo this year.

A few scouting reports from yesteryear.

Damn the first thing I saw was that post from last November saying he'd be out 4-6 weeks.

Hopefully that goal was the knife in the ketchup bottle and Kupari scores a bunch more.

If Kupari has a good shot, is it just his hockey IQ that's keeping him off the board? What is the thing he needs to improve on the most for things to "Click"?

I think his release and accuracy to be honest.

He can get to the right places, he has good hands, but oftentimes he takes too long to shoot which results in a block or the goalie getting set, and he also doesn't seem to be able to pick his spots very well.

Well if he continues to improve ill be happy, mind you his continued growth just means it will be more difficult for lambert to step up. Im kinda torn

That's my take as well. He gets himself to the right spot and gets his chances but his shots are often either blocked or tipped because he doesn't get them off quick enough, and when he does get a shot off, he'll hit the goalie square in the logo.

One thing I've noticed that Kup does very well is puck protection. Positions himself between the defender and the puck and buys a second to make a good play

He also goes to the net better than I remember

The good thing is accuracy and release are 2 things that can be taught and improved on with practice. You can’t teach speed or hockey IQ, which Kupari appears to have based on these 3 games. (I don’t think soeed has ever been in doubt. )

IMO, he doesn't get to the net or middle ice very often - he's decent along the walls and can make plays on the outside but you rarely see him in the thick of things in the middle ice.
I think he is a little timid and needs to lean in a bit in battling for that ice - the good news is, he's better at it this year than he has been and that's showing in how he looks to be much better with puck possession.
I think his scoring will improve a ton if he does the above -
